Dividing the room...

Just received the new Tudor Royal 41mm Day Date in blue.

Not many of these knocking about in the UK yet (Ernest Jones have them online if any other Brits are wondering...)

For £1,700 I think it's an incredible value proposition.

It's never going to be a 'one watch collection', but already owning a few vintage and modern divers from Rolex, Tudor and Omega, it's a rather fun addition!

I know it's a Sellita movement, it's not PM, the integrated bracelet is very 'Marmite' (I personally love it). But with the Roman numerals, it does feel a little bit like I'm cheating the system to get the 'look' of a Datejust 41, or even a Day Date (!) at a fraction of the price.

If you hadn't already worked it out, those watches are out of my league.

But when comparing the sunburst blue dial alongside my wife's blue 34m OP, that burst of blue is just as awesome.

Feel free to chastise below...

Congratulations looks stunning

I fancy one but want to see and try one on first, a tad tricky in the UK at the moment.

Agree It would seem a no brainer at £1700. Wear it with good health

Superb watch. Congratulations.

And, its a fine movement. I hope it doesn't dissuade anyone from buying because that would be a shame.

I think it’s a great looking piece. Maybe ahead of the game in terms of the integrated bracelet.

It’s really nice I asked for this exact same model when it was first released my AD Told me they weren’t being released in the uk.

I’ll definitely be looking to pick one up and the price is incredible. Congrats.

The movement is a good workhorse movement that doesn’t need to hide behind the Rolex models. Personally, though, I don’t like the mode because of the cut out look of the day/date windows. Doesn’t mean my taste is better than yours, I don’t like the green Subs either, and I’m clearly in the minority there.
Anyway, it’s good that we don’t all have the same taste, or you’d have to wait for your watch for years as well. Enjoy it!

Not going to chastise. Just the opposite. Great way for a watch enthusiast to avoid rolex gamesmanship and negativity.

The watch is not my taste, but I'm not gonna chastise you, except for feeling you have to apologize for the Selitta movement. No need to apologize for anything, you bought what YOU love and that is what matters.

Enjoy and wear it in good health!

My daily watch during covid has been a blue dialed Tudor as well - and one also off the well beaten path. It consistently wins out against its upmarket siblings in the watch box. So even if you had some "out of your league" watches, I suspect you'd be grabbing for this one anyway!

As a follow up I requested one from a local Tudor AD in exactly that combination!!! I really do like it. The room doesn't seem so divided as much as disinterested. Maybe that is the sign of division!!! I kind of wish they offered the MOP dial for the larger watches! Congratulations again!!!

It looks great I will have see it in person before I officially commit to it but for the price it looks very gold. I’m quite keen on the tt version.

It's a pleasure reading about your excitement and satisfaction. Good for you! Hope you enjoy the watch in good health for many many years to come!

I was offered a Royal at an AD recently. Not my cup of tea. But that does not mean anything else other than a preference for a different style.

I personally don't have anything against Sellita movements. There is nothing to be ashamed of, rather the opposite. Nowadays they are of comparable quality to ETAs, available at different finishing points. ETA is restricting supply outside the Swatch group. The fact the ebauche used as a base is more common does not mean it is of lesser quality. And are built to Tudor's specs and subject to their regulation. Definitively nothing wrong in that.

Thanks for the responses all!

I am certainly no movement expert, and perhaps I was too quick to judge on the Sellita. In two days, it's lost just three seconds - a workhorse indeed.
