Now it looks bad! You should've left it alone , and let Patek do it at service time.

These are metal pieces, of course they will get marks. Like it or not, its part of the nature of owning metal accessories.

That kind of a finishing job on a new watch would drive me crazy. Should have just left the mark - I bet it looked a heck of a lot better than that!

I think getting these gold watches new in the summer doesn't help, where they are worn with short sleeve shirts. I find the Patek gold shows a mark damn near every time something touches it. So, if you wear the watch, it WILL get marks. The key I think is mindset -- caring less, and knowing it can and will be fixed by Patek at service.

Nautilus is one of the easiest to scratch l watches I’ve ever owned, I also don’t think it wears scratches well so you want to be very careful with it.

The worst remains a steel bezel Royal Oak Offshore, basically a flawed design as it is huge on the wrist, very easy to hit, and scratches so easily and looks bad when scratched. That being said it’s great training for getting your watch-defence skills up.

Just be careful with it now, a steel one will be no different. Get that bad fix refinished too, it deserves better than that. A pro will sort.

Congrats and be careful from the inside cuff of your shirts. Crazy; but the threaded knot holding the buttons has been the ONLY thing scratching my 5711R. I now fold my cuffs...
I’ve had my 5712 for 2 months now and looks brand new. My 5711R and 5164R get hair lines from the wind
