Who said it hurts anyone's peace of mind? Some just prefer their watches perfect and some do not care. To each their own!

That is different than saying, your quote my emphasis, "Why does a daily *need to* get beat up?" A daily doesn't need to get beat up, a daily can just be a daily. But ... my opinion is that these two aren't great daily watches because *in normal use* that bezel is rather easily damaged and I don't like a scratched bezel. You have every right to have a different opinion but don't misquote me.

I second this x1000. If you want to wear your Patek running with the bulls or leave it in the safe and visit it once a year, that is YOUR CHOICE. There's a tendency in the forum to tell other folks how they should enjoy their collection. I say, whatever makes you happy that is the whole point of this somewhat ridiculous hobby!

In the meantime, I'm enjoying mine. Here's some pics of my daily-worn/well-loved 5167. Cheers

Agree that thee bezel doesn't look great when scraped up, but daily wear doesn't mean that has to happen. I operate with an almost natural, OCD-level of wrist awareness and my RO/Nautilus bezels have held up exceptionally well. Of course, it was an expensive lesson learned from my earlier days of wearing ROOs, where I ruined a good number of bezels.

The 5167 is surely my beater watch!
It’s taken its share of hits, even a ding to the case, but I just love it all the more Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I love my 5167 and wear it pretty much every day but definitely don't subject it to the same environments I've subjected Rolexes to (diving, alpine climbing, etc.).
Rolex is the best tool watch in the world. Scratches, no problem!

I think almost every watch can and should be a potential daily wearer, except for rose gold or yellow gold watches.

You can use it daily, I used to own one and it’s super light and comfortable.

Mine certainly isn't a beater. I desperately want it to not be a safe queen either but ATM it spends most of its days like in this pic :-( Every time I get it out to wear it I have it on for about 1/2 an hour round the house and then end up changing it.
Not sure if it'll stay or go at the moment. It may be just a little too refined for me.

A few days skimboarding on the beach, perhaps some off-road biking too. Yeah, that'll teach that watch who's boss 'round here!
These are a few of my favorite things to do while wearing the Hulk.

You must be good at keeping the rubber facing the tarmac Eddie?
Ever had to set a bike down wearing a watch? Surely you’d be covered in leather regardless

I wear my aquanaut every day. It’s slim, legible, accurate and easily the most comfortable watch I’ve worn in years. I look after it as it’s an expensive piece but don’t get too hung up about the odd ding.

In order to get over that psychological hump, I think you need to commit a week to wearing it all day, 7 days in a row. It’s a Patek that’s meant to be work daily IMO. Yes it’s 20k and yes secondary market continues to drift upward, but for me (as is true for nearly all my watches), I paid the money to wear it. If I don’t wear it, I’d feel I just wasted $20k. As per most, i don’t see any issues as a daily wearer.
But no, it’s not a beater watch in my book. In my view something which meets that definition should ultimately be disposable and replaceable without a moments thought. Set cost to one side, significantly damaging something of such beauty and ‘wasting’ the artisanship which has gone into it by someone just doesn’t quite sit right. And I’m not talking about surface level scratches here - but far more mechanically relevant damage / severe aesthetic change. Big difference to me at least between a daily wearer and an actual beater watch which will be treated roughly, bounced around, mis-thrown into gym bags, scraped and scratched and used for ANY task or circumstance where loss or catastrophic damage are of a high likelihood.

I don't have beater watches because I'll even remove an inexpensive watch if I think it will get damaged by an activity. I wear a 5167 in rotation for office work and on leisure time, usually in casual dress. If it gets dinged, it's in spite of my being careful. Same goes for my Rolexes.
