Will Patek leave Basel?

Now that Swatch has pulled out will Patek do the same?

doubt it. Swatch releases watches weekly it seems so an annual event doesnt fit them. Patek doesn't do that and they don't release a hundred watches a year either. IMO they need a showcase event but ive always thought SIHH was more their market than Basel.

I doubt it. PP typically does not do anything they do not want too. I expect they will get new terms on the contract to show at Basel and it would be advantageous for them to stay.

The Baselworld has become a very effective platform for Rolex and Patek to market their new products to a global audience. There is a form of synergy when both giants congregate together at a particular time during the year to maximize their products' exposure. The impact is huge and the benefit for them is immerse.

I cannot see a Baselworld or an equivalence without Rolex or Patek together under the same roof.

Doubt it would happen but if either Rolex or Patek pulled out Basel would be over. I’m sure the team at Basel will bend over backwards to keep them happy. That said, in today’s digital world these fairs are becoming less needed.

I tend to agree - Basel would be finished without Rolex and Patek, or at least relegated to an insignificant convention that receives little fanfare and reporting.

I don't see why they would leave at this point - they get a ton of mileage and I'm sure have negotiated a great deal. Basel might survive Patek leaving, although diminished. If Rolex goes, however, there goes the show.

Seems like the New York expo that Patek did was a smashing success. Worldwide audience and people absolutely flocked there to bask in all things PP. I’d venture to say that Patek will abandon fairs like Basel and focus on an event like that expo in the future.

As to Rolex I don’t know why they waste their time with Basel, never have. Do an annual Apple style event with new releases and technology and people would fall over themselves to attend.

Were Patek to leave the Basel fair, it would be with Rolex and done along with an end or substantial downgrade of the fair.
