AP's new watch line.
From what I have heard from Govberg dealer people is that AP will be launching a whole new line of watches in the next year or two? Anyone else heard this and any ideas or speculation on what it would be like? I am guessing a new dress line to replace the JA line. Or do I have miss information?

What if it’s a new Royal Oak line? Or an alternate sport line with something different than the octagonal bezel? Patek has the Nautilus and the Aquanaut, would make sense if AP dropped something else. This wouldn’t surprise me at all, given the current market for sport pieces. Would they really invest into dress pieces right now? Just seems unlikely....
Speaking of a new line, I’m surprised they would do this before releasing a full in-house chrono on the ROO. Aside from people talking about this over he past years, Patek and other manufacturers have already moved to this (years ago, I might add). With so many more people caring about ‘full in house’ it seems AP would move from the 3120 chrono sandwich. |

Technically AP has the RO and ROO similar to that of the Patek Nautilus and Aquanaut.
I can see a whole revamp of the Jules Audemars and dress line. Well... one would hope so at least haha. The in-house Chrono is already in the works, I see that coming soon too. |

Yes, I think it might a relaunch of the Jules audemar line. A few months ago I stopped by the boutique asking to look at one . They said they didn't have any because the whole line was being redone

Yes and I remember an interview awhile back where Francois Bennahmias said the new in house chorno would be first launched in this line.
It would make sense that the first (non complicated) in house chrono would be in their new line to gain popularity since the JA line is not a great seller then move it into the ROC. They could use it in the ROO but the subdial configuration is different and the ROO has always had a modular movement and already uses the 3120 as a base. |

Yes, I first heard about it nearly 2 years ago when I have lunch with one of the AP executives. It's supposedly a dress watch range. About time if you ask me as the JA line barely sells and are dumped on the ADs who hardly move them.
I hope it's a cross-over, ie a smart casual dressy watch line. Pure dress watch is hard to sell in today's market.

Bet we’ll see a revamped JA range in 42/43mm taking some design characteristics of the Royal Oak, bit like RO to ROO but in the opposite direction towards smart/dress wear.

Isn’t 42/43 massive for a true dress line? 38-40 is the sweet spot in modern time...I know I’d never wear something that huge (that’s not a true sport piece)...
Heck, the RO is ‘sporty dress’ and only 41mm... |

I think it will have a large sports bias, otherwise AP being really and fatally contrarian in the most lopsided market we've ever seen.

Would love to see a JA line reboot. A lot of competition though from VC and Lange especially in the lower price range for dressier watches so would be interesting to see if AP would try to compete in the entry level or move the line upmarket.

In today's world it is all about recognizable sport watches that screams wealth, and I can't wait for next SIHH to see in which direction new line will go....
