Platona with brown subdials vs Platona with baguette markers

If you could purchase either edition, which would you choose?

WG Sub vs WG sub with diamond indexes

If you had a choice, which would you prefer? I think Dr. Tom has the now discontinued smurf with diamond markers.

Easy choice for me. Platona with the diamond baguettes. Looks much cleaner. Though I must admit the brown subdial one is growing on me.

Platona with brown subdials vs Platona with baguette markers

The diamond version, not because of the diamonds themselves but because I like the subdial colors better without the brown frames

Get the diamond version as the regular version is quite common. Go big or go home. :)

I'm not a diamond guy, but it's kind of hard not to love this reference. I saw it yesterday at my AD in Toronto. BTW no SS sport models in their display case either.

I bought the one with brown subdials but actually like the diamonds. Too bad they don’t come on the one with brown sub-dials

I went with brown sub dials. I seriously considered the baguettes but missed the distinctive Daytona look. If you could get baguettes on the brown sub dial dial, I’d seriously consider a switch.

I agree with the brown subdials and liked them since I first saw them, can't do diamonds.

Diamond baton markers are the only way I’d go diamonds on a dial. Looks amazing!

If you are in a position to buy a Platona it doesn’t really matter, both are great

That's exactly what my answer would be.

With the diamonds, the Daytona simply does not look like Daytona anymore, had personally played with me before, but it did not fit on the wrist.
If a watch with diamonds then I would see this at a Daydate, because this clock is a slave and not a chrono

The highest recognition for a Platinum Daytona is the brown bezel and the brown totalists.
Of course in combination with the ice blue dial!

Question: Do the diamond markers have any lume underneath? Or do they stay dark...in the dark?

I really, really like them both. I haven't seen the diamond version in person, though. I find the "regular" one is more versatile in that it looks great to me with a pair of jeans or shorts, but also quite at home with a jacket or suit. The diamond version to my eye is very pretty, but the Daytona rings are much more subtle being tone on tone. It is a more formal look, and I think that it might be a little too fancy/formal with jeans. Although I'd wear it anyway, due to the "awesomeness" factor.

I love both, but understand that some people don't like the chestnut brown and some people don't like diamonds on a man's watch. Actually, I am usually in the latter category but think this watch with diamonds and the Patek 5170P with diamonds are both really beautiful watches with diamonds that people wouldn't even notice at a glance.
