Either put it in a safe and don’t wear it, put on a band and wear it, or, realize it’s going to get swirls and dings.

It’s a tool watch...

OP, I think you’re missing out in the enjoyment of such a great watch. I’ve struggled to wear anything else since getting mine. Just be mindful when you’re wearing it, ie, not banging your wrist on your desk or wildly running through doorways, and I think you’ll be fine.

Make up a story about the scratches. It’ll be worth more in 20yrs.

It’s like not sleeping with your girlfriend to you can keep it nice for the next guy..
Same applies to classic cars.
You’re a lucky guy, wear that watch and enjoy in rotation.

If I were too afraid to wear a watch, I’d sell it. It’s not worth the worry. They are meant to be enjoyed.

Can’t enjoy a watch if you are constantly worrying about scratches and other wear

If it worries you that much, then you probably shouldn't have spent so much in the first place. Sell one of the BLNR or the Daytona...and relax

take the watch out of the case and tell your wife to do the dishes with it...and then to go gardening with it...after she comes back with some scratches on it...just put it on your wrist and wear it.
i was once talking with a Benz salesman..he told me one of his customer..bought a brand new Benz..and dinged in the parking lot, in front of the salesman, and then said...that's it it s scratched, now i can enjoy it..true story.

Another reason I don't mind buying second hand. Its already got some wear/tear and it makes it that much easier to just wear and enjoy.

On the other hand, I am not a fan of PCL bracelets for daily wear due to my lifestyle and activities I partake in.

Your watch is not a rare or collectable model. If you do not wear it, why did you buy it?

Follow your instincts. Wear the Daytona on special occasions. It might be everyday. But if you want to keep it perfect that is your right. You own it!

Some interesting comments from some who don't own one.

A watch is for wearing but a DaytonaC at the current ridiculous prices above MSRP is not 'just a watch'.

At AU$24000 on the only available market here in Oz it is not something I would just buy and wear because "you all know it can take it".

Enjoy wearing it as you want to but treat it well.

I wear both of mine regularly and they’re both covered in scratches. Nothing a gentle polish won’t take care of.

The way I look at is even if I do some serious damage to the bracelet, it’s a current production mode and I can just order a replacement.

Really don't worry about not wearing it. It will call to you when you're ready to wear it.

Now I have a DaytonaC, very lucky to get it from my fantastic AD in the U.K who love their watches too. I have worn it quite a bit and to be frank it does have some scratching on the bracelet etc which tends to show the marks quite easily.

Then Daytona is very pretty and I like it a lot and aesthetically it is superior to the Sub but to me it feels very delicate when I wear it.

I would love to put it on and used it most days but I am so scared of marking it that I default to the Sub. The Daytona I feel needs to be babied to keep it looking tip top while the Sub just takes everything and still looks superb.

This probably has loads to do with the PCL but the Daytona just feels like a dress watch and not what Rolex has been to me as rugged (via Subs and GMTs that I have owned).

I am a year in with the Daytona and it has stated just coming out for meals out etc and I just cannot get it back to being a daily wearer.

For sure I am being silly but I want it as my default watch and daily wearer but go to the Sub every time right now.
have a look on here GB-TOM had his new ceramic brushed removing the PCL like daytona's used to be it bloody lovely , not everyones cup of tea , But I think it is amazing and how they should be sent from Rolex

[QUOTE=Chadridv;8078990]I’m personally not crazy about a brushed bracelet with the fully polished case. IMO it looks off. You’d have to brush the top of the lugs too which given what we know about you thus far is likely not an option (I wouldn’t do that either to my new Daytona).

That said, I think this warm up period takes time. For me I get through it in about 1-2 months. For others it will take longer. Just keep wearing it little by little and before you know it, it will reach daily wear status.

If it still continues to bug you, you could source an alternative bracelet/strap. I’m not a big fan of PCLs, so I’m always tinkering. Super jubilee looks awesome IMO. Everest makes some great straps or if you can get your hands on an Oysterflex, the look and feel is incredible!

Would love to get an Oyster Flex. Any idea what the run or who can source one?

Thanks

Wear it....the only watches I have been afraid of wearing are typically vintage, high dollar, and with few parts available. This was made to be worn...do it. If you don't wear it and can't get comfortable with it you will probably end up flipping it.
