1993 Datejust crown logo misaligned?
Hey Everyone,
My wife recently bought me my first vinate Rolex for a wedding gift and I noticed that the crown logo was slightly misaligned/touching the minutes tracking. She purchased it from a reputable dealer I've used in the past and the watch came with a authentication from Swiss Crown USA. I would like to know if I should be worried about this (i.e. fake, refinished diel) or if this is just a cork of early 1990s rolex sometimes. |

Vintage Datejust concerns
Hello Everyone,
My awesome wife picked me up my first vintage Rolex and I noticed the the Rolex logo is slightly misaligned and touching the minutes track. Is this something I should be considered about? Or is it more of a cork that sometimes happened with early 90s Rolexs? The watch came with an authentication from Swiss Crown USA if that means anything to y'all. |

Based on the alignment and overall quality of the printing, I suspect this is a refinished dial. Very good photo BTW.

Thanks for the response, when you say "quality of the printing," what is it you mean?

The text doesn't look totally convincing to me at first glance, but I could certainly be wrong, so you should probably take a better look for yourself. Go to a high volume dealer website, like HQ Milton, and download some photos of 16014 dials. Then carefully compare the details of the font (shapes of letters, serifs or lack of them, etc.) and the even-ness and consistency of the printing.

Most likely an aftermarket or repainted dial. The hands look real new too, probably aftermarket as well.

@AllPal
Go to the Swiss Crown website and notice that they state plainly that their pre-owned Rolex watches are refinished. ————— Instagram: @onthedial |

OP, it sounds as if the watch is authentic but Swiss Crown puts aftermarket parts on them to make them look new. Most likely using aftermarket parts. Since it was a gift, I would just wear it and enjoy it and when its time to have it serviced, you can track down an authentic dial and hands and have them swapped out. Original hands and dials are quite easy to obtain.
