I thought the 5712 waiting list was in the yet not months! If I could find an AD who would let me wait just a few months I would buy one right away.

I have a great AD but these "lists" are static. They can choose to sell to whoever they want, whenever they want. Build a good relationship is my advice, and that does not mean buying items you do not want or need.

Thanks for your feedback. I've put in time building relationships with two ADs in my area, but what I've learned is many of the front line sales people just don't have the authority or are involved in the sales of these hard to get pieces and the waitlists are managed directly by the owners who live in a different state and only know their customers via an Excel spreadsheet of how much they've spent at their ADs.

Figure a way around the front line sales people, get to the decision maker.

You won't regret it. I have a scintilla of regret that I let my 15202 go because I think it's a gorgeous watch (especially the bracelet), but the 5712 is like wrapping silk on my wrist. So comfortable and that dial is much more interesting than the 15202.
Nautilus from the lugs up and RO from it down would be the ideal Genta. Maybe TRF should design our own Genta inspired watch.

so i'll be the dissenting voice here...i think u should hold onto the 15300...at least for the next 6 months. its valuation is not going to drop, in fact likely will go higher as more 15500s start getting out there.

the 5712 is the current new shiny object. after awhile it be an old shiny object. that isn't to say that it won't still be amazing...but i think ur current awe and amazement for/of it will wear off...and something else will either catch ur attention...or worse, u will miss the RO.

i've had both the 5712 and jumbo. they're both gone, replaced with other pieces i wanted more. and, like you, when i first had both on my wrist my at-then conviction was "this will NEVER leave my wrist". and u know...we all know...we're all kidding ourselves.

i don't regret letting go of the jumbo cuz i ended up with something i do/did want more - which, btw, i'm now thinking of letting go of that replacement piece...so my own point proven to myself!

that 15300 is now becoming more rare.
one might say the model is as rare as a 5712...maybe more so.
and i feel you will end up regret letting it go. and given its rarity, good luck trying to find another one!

with that, i say, only your opinion is the right one.
god speed!

Yeah, I have thought that through a little and worried I may regret it. But after a quick listing, its already OHPF. Assuming payment comes through today, it will be on its way to a new home. If not, maybe I will pull the listing a reconsider. But I find it too bulky now, I find almost anything too bulky now after having the 5711 and 5712, they are just so comfortable. If I miss it, so be it and it will be another one to chase back at a later date!

Your gut was right and a sale within 5 hours was swift - your last post is right - don’t look back and let the buyer enjoy it.

The bulk is beyond the cuff - at least in the picture I saw - so agree with your choice to sell.

Exactly. And what ends up happening, is I do not wear it for dressier occasions, I wear this or the 5711. Then for more casual, I have options like the 5164a, FC Diver or Hulk. This one just got lost somewhere in between and I never was grabbing for it, the 5712 just made that even more so.

New owner is excited and has been looking for one for a while.

I was interested in the 15300 but it sold so fast at $25k :). Grats by the way, I think it was a good price and given you bought it a few years ago, nice profit in the bank!

I would say that the 15202 is a good comparison (it can be pretty dressy since its so slim) but really the only steel AP that can match or exceed the 5712 is probably the 15407st or the 15305st, even then the aggressive design of the royal oaks aren't nice dressed up imho.

I have almost updated the listing to off market a few times this morning, do not be surprised if later today it is staying.

I already pulled it off the market. Im gonna hang onto it and see if it gets any time, I was having remorse once I had that buyer. It was a sign.
