Rolex 6581

I came across this 1955 6581 from a estate. Watch was purchased by a Lieutenant in the USAF while serving in Europe in 1956. The watch was in the original box, and had hang tag and original receipt from purchase, and 55 dated expandable bracelet in pretty good shape. Watch needs a service and dial looks like it was redone at some point, but I still think its a neat package.

Lovely provenance, but a refinished dial.

Even with the redo, it is a nice watch and a great find, something about vintage and history behind it, makes it all the more special IMO

What brilliant provenance. Box, tag and original receipt. It would be interesting to try and trace the history of this watch and owner.

Its a shame that something so personal ends up in a sale and not handed down to somebody who knew the owner.
