Tried on a PP WorldTimer in Platinum

For fun I tried on a PP WorldTimer in platinum and wow, what a solid feel.

The platinum made the watch quite heavy on my wrist (I've never had a platinum piece), which was very different from my Sub and FC WorldTimer (I know, no comparison, just trying to plan to join you heavy-weights).

But I liked the heaviness -- I could feel I had something special on my wrist.

On the downside, the model I tried had a dark blue center on the dial and the hands were nearly invisible, which surprised me. I had a hard time seeing the time.

The size was modest compared to most men's watches these days, though I have small wrists, so no problem for me.

All in all a fun experience, but if I acquire a PP, it won't be this model.

The dark blue center dial is the only one available in Platinum as far as I'm concerned (unless we're talking about the Mecca edition but that's a different story). Glad to know you liked it and even more glad to read an honest review talking about that little dark dial problem, it's definitely something to think about when thinking about such a timepiece.

Speaking for myself, I'm more of a 5110 type of guy but the 5130 sure looks nice.

Stunning

Get up close to one of these watches and it takes your breath away - such amazing detail and finishing. Unfortunately if you're a traveler it tells you 10 things you do not need to know.

I sold my 5130P because the contrast between the centre dial and the hands meant I couldn't see the time in poor lighting, as you suggest. A great shame as it's a beautiful watch.

I am quite infatuated with world timers at the moment, and have been researching several. While the 5130p is a wonderful piece (and my sincere congratulations to all owners), I actually prefer the discontinued 5110 for myself. Both the platinum and white gold versions are singing very loudly to me.....

It's funny you say this -- i have been infatuated with WTs since last August and it has not worn off one bit.

I have a story about my experiences with sales people, which I will post in the Non-Rolex - Other board.

Also, I posted a photo essay of sorts, on these boards, showing every WT dial I could find. I'll post the link for you.

I own a Frederique Contstant rose-gold WT, totally gorgeous. Not the most expensive watch out there, but let me tell you: that face.

Yeah it's a beauty and if I could actually read the time I would have bought it

Amazing that they'd create a watch where one can't tell the time!!

The World Time in platinum, the holiest of metals, is a quintessential Patek...
