Do you mind if (reasonable) stranger ask to try your rolex?

Hello!
I am eyeing to get my first Rolex, but I still cannot decide between SD43 or Sub-Date black .
Since it is almost impossible to try the these models in AD because of stocks , I am kind of desperate to ask stranger who wears one of those models.

So I am just wondering if a stranger (with a reasonable judgment that they're not gonna rob you) bump into you, ask about your Rolex, and ask to try it on, what would you do? Are you leaning to respond by "leave me alone" or pridefully showcase your precious ?

I bet a member here would be more than willing to ship theirs to you as long as you promise to send it back

First, there is no reason to even try on somebody else’s watch because it is very unlikely it will fit your wrist.

There may be a used watch shop with the model you want to try on. They might be able to remove links to fit.

But nobody is going to hand over their watch to you.

I doubt insurance would even cover "I gave some dude my watch to try and then he ran away".

A guy in a different office (same building) let me try his oyster quartz on once. I was in full geek mode. He seemed shocked I knew what it was and we got to talking about watches for ages.

But the answer would more than likely be nooooo.

Sadly it’s a hard pass. The only time I have ever let anyone see or try on a watch is at get togethers or events at my AD.

Depends on the environment. Business meeting, church, medium sized social gathering, airport lounge, etc? Sure.

Random guy in a bar, parking lot, walking down the street, shopping mall, etc? Heck no.

No way I’d ever let this happen, nor would I expect anyone with a real Rolex to do.
