FS: Zodiac Reverse Panda Chronograph, Valjoux 7733 - “Poor Man’s Heuer”

Hello everyone,

I’m regrettably putting up my Zodiac Reverse Panda Chrono for sale due to needed funds...

I assume if you’re looking at this, then you know the story behind the “Poor Man’s Heuer”. But for those that don’t - there are a lot of articles on the web. Spoiler alert~ this watch uses the same workhorse of a manual wind movement as the late 1960’s Heuer’s, the Valjoux 7733! The Heuer’s fetch a lot of money due to their name recognition, but the other variants - like this one, have been increasing in value due to their similarities, same movements, and rising demand for vintage chronographs!

general specs:

- ~36 mm case diameter w/o crown
- 12 mm height (plexy)
- 7733 manual wind
- 19 mm lug width

The watch is currently fitted with a 20mm worn and wound shell cordovan strap (I have a brand new one if you’re also interested). Comes with the watch and strap only.

The dial is very clean, the lume points are there, but will not shine through the whole night. The case has minor scratches and buffs but is generally in very good shape, especially for its age. One of the pushers has wear on the back side which adds to the charm...

Ownership(s) and service history is not known, but it winds like butter and everything function as it should and resets crisply.

Update 11/06/18: It was brought to my attention that the dial may have been touched up or restored. I wasn’t aware of this and wanted to disclose it in the interest of transparency. Needless to say, it’s still in my opinion a nice-looking watch and works well and winds like butter!
