New York is probably the safest it's ever been, still need to be smart and aware of your surroundings.

Thanks I'm heading up there for 3 days toward the end of this month. Even though I lived the first 50 years of my life in NYC, I've decided to leave the Rolex home.

I go to New York regularly and always wear my nice watches. The story in the link is pretty bizarre. Who drives in New York, smoking a cigarette, and hanging their 30 year old arm out the window.

I agree. I always wore my Rolex in NY. I just feel the older you get, the more of a target you become.

Must’ve been targeted. How many people can tell a Patek from another watch unless they know about watches? Generally NYC is pretty safe, but you’d still have to be cautious of your surroundings

"Robbery in Montreal"
"Robbery in NYC"
"Robbery in Montreal"
"Robbery in London"

I think we all know robberies happen. The fact that some get posted here make it seem like it is an all-so-often occurring event. The places mentioned above are generally safe. But yes, at times, s*** happens.

I recommend "Enlightenment Now" by S. Pinker - for those who know what I'm talking about.

Strange story.

Anyway, anything can happen anywhere. I personally feel very safe in NYC and wouldn't hesitate to wear a nice watch there.

What's retail price and what are they selling for in the real Market? The more I think about this, the more I think, you know, is probably much better than trying to have to sell that thing on the open market.

Why would it shock you? The biggest meth/crackhead population per sq ft is in mid town.

IKR? Minimum 5 year aged cigar is the proper choice.

As a New Yorker I'm also suspicious of this story...

Imagine being a thief... a thief who can spot a Patek... following this guy who is in a car... and suddenly the guy just stops and dangles his arm out the window? What are the odds?
