And here are my pics of the new Fireman model. I'm impressed by Ball watch quality.

Congrats on your new Fireman! The strap goes well with the black dial and green fonts.

Thx guys. I'm really loving it. I'm super impressed by the quality. Thinking of picking up another Ball before I jump in and buy myself a Panerai.

It was an american company founded by william ball. i believe it was bought out by the swiss in 1924. they use swiss eta movements, and sometimes modify them in house.

I will definitely look into getting a Ball watch when my Luminox Navy Seals watch looses it's lume or conks out. That may be a while because it is still bright and running strong. Thanks for the photos.

Ball watches give you fantastic value for the money. And their quality is superb. I won't be surprised if that same watch I have cost 3 times as much in 3-5 years.

To be exact, Ball watch company was founded by Webster Clay Ball. More info here:
http://www.pocketwatchrepair.com/histories/ball.html Here's some background info on today's Ball company by Mr. Jeff Hess (Ball USA's CEO): 'This company was owned by the Ball family until the 1990's. And Whne I got invloved I got the blessing of the last Ball who ran the company George Ball before continuing. He still is kind of an "ambassador" (if you will) This company is closer to the original family than any company out there (except maybe Martin Braun and Kobold and Krieger, recent companies). We carry on the tradition and I take it very very seriously. Almost religiously. And so do my Swiss partners.' So this George Ball is approx what age? "about 68" He is residing here in the US? "yes" He is Webb C. Ball's great, great grandson (I'm guessing)??? "correct" Is he still in good health? "Golfs every month. Still works. robust. goes on a 10 day fishing trip every August with his friends in Michigan and wisconsin, so yes, he is good health. He visits often last coming down here about 8 weeks ago. We talk often on the phone." Any possible chance he could make an appearance at the Tampa GTG???? That would be really REALLY interesting if that could be arranged! "I ask him always. he always turns me down. I tell him he would be a "rock star". He has little interest. but I WILL get him one of these days to come to an event"

Ball watches are kind of unheralded. I read a piece in WatchTime a while back about the company, and it has a very interesting history related to the American railroads. The one here is pretty big, but they have a nice variety of models. I wouldn't mind grabbing one someday.
