Patek Chronos.

So I went back to the boutique to see the 5170G black dial. Been mulling over between the 5170G and 5070G. Well they had the 5270 Blue dial, which I never saw before. I admit to not being particularly enamored by the 5270 models beforehand (especially el chino) but I must say the new blue dial is really sweet. Great case too.

I prefer either 5170 or 5070. The one with the day/month looks too busy.

That blue is really sweet though. Changes the whole character of the watch. Feels more alive and sportier than the white dial.

Not really comparing apples to apples there with a simple manual wind two register chrono next to a perpetual calendar chronograph....

That being said, I like the execution of the 5170 overall. The 5270 is also a wonderful watch and frankly more legible than its predecessors.

Yes, they didn't have it though. The 5170G is quite dressy, I'm imagining the rose gold would be too.

It's dressy but I've been wearing mine with jeans and short sleeves. Getting a matte finish strap to dress it down.

Sadly, neither the 5070 or 5170 do anything for me.

But the 5270............thats a different story

But I guess that there a fair hike in the price to get one!

I think you are considering three superb pieces. I think it just comes down to personal preference

I am not a fan of the 5270...I don't like the position of the subdials below 3 and 9

The 5070 and 5170 are both awesome, but the 5270 is another step up.

Tough choice between the 5070, 5170 and the 5270! The 5270 of course is in a different price range. I think they are all great watches. In the end, choose the one that you really love

I have tried on both the 5270 blue dial and the 5170 black dial, and I found the blue dial to be quite stunning!

5170s before the 5270 for me though i do love the blue dial… perhaps there is a blue dialed platinum 5170 on the horizon (will it have a scale or no scale???) :)

the 5070 is incredible and is my most desirable watch for a while, it looks so much better in person than pictures and it the fit for me was exceptional comfortable.

Well I think my favorite would be the 5204, but it is a split second, and much more expensive, so if we stay in the non split models, I agree with you my friend, as much as I like the 5970pt, I prefer the blue dial 5270, not a big fan of the white dial, tried it on at the Paris Salon, and it didn't appeal much to me, but in blue it would change everything, plus I personally prefer the sub dials to have only one hand, the 5970 sub dials seem a little busy for me, and in 99.99% of cases I always prefer a blue dial to any other color, but blue being my favorite color it's not surprising at all, I have more blue shirts, pants and suits than any other color in my wardrobe, even my Harley Davidson is blue, and a blue dial watch is as beautiful as it gets when it is a white metal, for RG brown is probably the best combination possible, you're a lucky guy, you have both blue and brown dials on the matching metals

Hey Martin, how's the legibility of your 5170r? I tried on the 5170g black dial and it was really nice but I found it somewhat hard to read under the AD's bright lights. Thanks.

Yes, the 5070 seems to be calling and not hanging up!

A couple answers. Strap is 21mm at the lugs and yes it can be a little difficult to read the time in bright sun light but tilting it a little to one side fixes that.

In our dream world, Arnaud, I would take the blue 5270g and the 5370 as my split seconds.
