16234 which dial more sought after?

Hi folks I have recently bought a full set almos nos 16234, but it is in black dial.

Do you think I should sell it and wait for a blue dial? I have asked RSC HK and they refused to change a blue dial for me.

I changed the dial from 16234. It was white and I put a black dial on it.
I wouldn't change a Datejust 16234 just because of the colour of the dial. If you like the blue dial, go to the Rolex and have it changed.

The previous white dial.

The current black dial of my 16234.

Much prefer the blue dial on these neo-classic DJs, but the kind without the Roman numeral track for minute markers (up to S serials). As the OP says, his local RSC won't switch dials just because he wants a different color, and even if you found an RSC willing to do it, it would be the style with the Roman numerals.

If you really want the blue dial, just hunt for one. They're out there. Here's my (former) 16200 with blue dial. Note that this style of dial with sunburst blue (as opposed to the more matte blue that Rolex also made) has a tendency to age poorly, with spotting across the dial surface and discoloration around the tritium hour plots. So make sure you see the dial at all angles. The dial below was spotted, but in a straight-on photo you wouldn't know it.

Keep the black!
It never goes out if style. Also, your watch looks great condition wise.

You can get a blue OP if you want a blue dial.

My local CSR changed it. My dial was white and I changed it to a black dial. They didn't give me any problems. I just had to pay.
