Just watched the program - scum of the earth.

Probably find the thieves get off with a slap on the wrist.

I think the discussion about lost and found/ stolen registers is worth having elsewhere. Should be like a car- piece of piss to prove ownership. Except it doesn’t seem to be that easy.

i've just read the article and looking forward to watching it! It does seem there are a lot of people who are on the lookout for stolen watches and help people to report them etc.

Very good programme. It was an uncomfortable watch, doubtful you will learn anything "new". However, it's a fascinating insight into the watch rippers World, showing just how ruthless they are and won't spare anyone - not even an old grand ma!

The Policing in the UK has gone to dirt. Criminals know full well they can get away with it, without likelihood of being caught, let alone being prosecuted.

As I said earlier, in another thread, stopping or slowing the demand for stolen watches by the people who buy them is part of any solution to this growing problem.

Lots of ways to prevent this. In the US, it would be great if stand your ground laws would extend towards protection of personal property.

In addition, DA’s need to actually prosecute.

As a Democrat, I’m embarrassed by the policies that the left across the country have implemented to incentivize crime by limiting what constitutes a felony theft, threatening to defund the police, and allowing criminals to go crazy with smash and grab robberies across the country.

Do they mention targeting people not paying attention to their surroundings.

Jk, sorry couldn’t resist, it’s the lamest response that gets said way too often.

Why lame?
Sounds like the sensible thing to do.

Watched this last night; didn't tell me anything I did not already know but it did emphasise the level of not just intimidation but actual violence some of these folks are willing to go through with to get hold of your watch. In addition to bladed weapons, firearms are also mentioned; by UK standards this is extreme stuff.

The documentary also highlights the use of spotters in restaurants, bars and clubs and the level of organisation that goes into this - as well as the likelihood of specific targeting versus opportunistic theft.

Interestingly the reporter turned up on the Rolex sub on Reddit a while ago announcing that the documentary was in development and looking for responses.

I wasn't sure what to expect. I thought our South London friend in a 20 Tog puffer jacket might make an appearence, but thankfully he did not.

Played the key word bingo: "bags", "straped" came up but no "p's" or "food" or "yout"

Overall it looked like a cheap version of Top Boy, lacking Kano and Asher D's charm. Somewhat chilling how the main characters had zero remorse for their acts or victims. I would have liked to know more about where all these stolen watches end up; on gangsters' wrists or back in the grey market, I suspect the latter.

jeepers such BS. Pauls obviously living rent free in that empty space of yours..

So you think PT is running a gang of watch thieves whist making video's about how watch crime has gone rampant.. You couldn't make it up.. Oh you just did

Yes his son did get done but there was officially no connection between them. Look it up. (but you know this already but obviously won't mention it as it hurts your narrative) he's also ostracized his son since then so has no connection with him but again you won't mention that either...

If you don't like the guy fair enough but don't make bollox up in your head and post it here just to justify it..

Back in 2009 I had the ‘pleasure’ of purchasing my first Rolex from Jamie Thorpe of West Sussex Watches……
Case - genuine
Movement - genuine but 10 years older and from a different model!
Bracelet - fake
Dial - fake
Crystal - fake
Papers - fake

Jamie had a good few years of doing this via Ludgate Watches and latterly at West Sussex Watches - both his own businesses. Now, bearing mind that Paul Thorpe was a well established dealer with a shop nearby……there is absolutely no way on earth that he didn’t know of his son’s activities! The fact that he failed to report him or stop it himself tells me everything I need to know about the man.

Yep that scary.

This happened at a bar/restaurant near where I work, killed for a fake Patek. Police caught and convicted 4 people.

I don’t wear my watches everywhere, I have boundaries.
