Omega Planet Ocean 8500 too thick for my taste. Looking for 2500

So I bought a Planet Ocean earlier this year for my first Omega (232.30.42.21.01.003). Now that I have had it for a few months, I just can't get past the thickness of the the case. After some research, it seems the thickness is due to the newer 8500 movement that replaced the older 2500 movement.

I am wondering a couple of things. First, does anyone have direct side view comparison photo(s) available? Second, what would the model number for the aesthetically equivalent 2500 movement based watch be? Second, would anyone consider a trade? I know the 8500 movement is more expensive, but frankly, I'm more interested in a watch I enjoy wearing.

(Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum, still new here at TRF)

Sorry i don't have photos, but I think the closest watch in the 2500 movement would be 2201.50.00, but that model doesn't have the orange 6,9,12.

I wanted the PO Ti (232.90.46.51.03.001) with the 9300 movement, but the watch is WAY too big for me...So I decided to go with the SubC two tone.

Good luck

Welcome to the forum.

As for the trade, I am sure there are several trusted sellers that would be glad to trade a 2500 for your 8500.

Jeepman, I hope you can work out something to get a PO 2500. It was after trying on the PO 8500 and feeling the thickness that I knew I wanted a PO 2500. I was able to buy a like new PO 2500 from a fellow WIS here in GA. I am so glad I was able to find a 2500 model. Good luck! Cheers, Bill P.

I have the watch posted above, 2201.50 bought July 2011 2500D movement and it's a class piece of kit, highly recommended

I know 2mm doesn't sound like much. But on a watch that's only 15mm thick, that's almost 20% difference.

The PO 8500 is 15.7 mm Thick (42mm)
The PO 2500 is 14.2mm Thick (42mm)

If the 2500 is 14.2mm and the 8500 is 15.7mm, the 8500 is 10% larger.

That's right. It's not the movement adding to the height but it may be the see through case back, or just a style decision.

I like 'me both but the 8500 does feel much larger.
