1675 Trade
Greetings all,
I am about to trade into my first vintage, a 3 million 1675. The dial/hands are service replacements (possibly bezel/insert as well?) which I know some will find as a negative but as I plan this being a daily wear, I appreciate that the hands and dial still glow rather bright and actually sought this out. I wanted to run a few things by this group before finalizing the trade. From my understanding an early 3 million serial indicates a early 1970s GMT, correct? I was a little concerned when I got my hands on the watch and went to set the time, winding the crown in a clockwise manner to advance the time as I'm used to on all the sapphire model Subs, GMTs and Explorers I've owned has always done just that, advanced the time- it sent the hands in a counter-clock-wise manner with this 1675. I've since been told that this is appropriate for a 3 million 1675. Lastly, the 93150 that came with it was rather beat up. The individual I am trading with has a 78360 that he'll include instead of the 93150, from what I can find this is a somewhat "period correct" bracelet for the 1675. Do I need to keep the 580 endlinks that came off the 93150? In closing, I'd appreciate your comments/insights into the following: 1) Does everything look legit (as far as you can tell from my less than awesome pictures)? 2) Are a 78360/580 end links the right combination for this 1675? 3) Is the crown functioning in the appropriate manner? Again, I appreciate your time and insight. |

I would pass on this, you probably can find a better example with a little bit more time. It looks really beat up and dial, insert and hands are all replacement.
Good luck |

BTW, you could drive a bus through those lug-holes as well. The case is shot. |

As you state the dial, hands, and insert are all service replacements. Depending on the price and your intended use that wouldn't be a deal breaker for me---if functionality is a factor.
580s are fine for a 78360. I'm not sure I would worry about an original period correct bracelet given the service dial etc.. I have to agree with the comments about the case and lugs. Unless the price is very right might have an "issues" watch down the road.. |

Case is over polished. Lugs are very thin. Agreed to keep on looking.

Pass for reasons stated above. When buying vintage condition is everything. While have service parts like the dial ,insert, hands etc is fine and up to the owner if they like it, case condition is very important not only for value but for overall integrity of the watch.

Gents - I appreciate all the advice and counsel, I have decided to pass on the trade and will continue looking for a suitable 1675 or 1680. Truly, thank you all for taking the time to offer your opinions, it is much appreciated!
