PAM 372 Strap

Hi, all.

I am a first time poster looking for some info. I have wanted a Panerai since first seeing one in the 90's/early 2000's. I bought my first "real" watch 10 years ago, Rolex Sub, and am now ready to purchase another for my 40th b-day. I am drawn to the 112 and 372, but am leaning toward the 372. One thing is I really do not like the strap offered on the new models. I absolutely love the darker brown strap that was offered on the early models. Is it possible to still buy that strap from Panerai or do they only make them for the watch and discontinue after they move to a new strap offering. I do see that there are many after market straps that are awesome, but I would like to have the original from Panerai.

I appreciate any response!

Yes, the “darker brown strap” you mentioned is also known as the Ranger strap. It comes with the P series 372. And yes, you are able to purchase it from the boutique.

On the other hand, why not just purchase a P series? On my side of the world, I have seen many P series 372 still in stock. At both AD and grey.

But you have to be aware that the P series is plexi-glass while the newer models are sapphire crystal. The newer models comes with the assolumemte strap. Other than these differences, nothing else has changed.

Thank you for the response. I assumed the new models were all that was currently available for sale. I don’t think I would have a problem with the plexi especially since you can replace it.

Even if the discount isn't huge, dealers will throw in a strap or two, so ask for the Ranger (and another) if buying new.

Speaking of discount...the other day I was at the AD trying on a 422 to get an idea if the 47mm would work on my wrist. I tried on the 422 as well as a BP. When I had the BP on the salesperson said they could move on the price, but never mentioned anything when I had the 422 on. Any idea what people are seeing these days at an AD? I am not at a point to start negotiating so I never asked what the discount would be on either. I read somewhere on this forum that if you can order it direct from Panerai you should get from 20-30% off. 372 can be ordered online no tax.

PAM 372 Strap

OEM straps are nice, but don't get hung up on that. There are plenty of custom strap makers that make much better straps. One of passions of owning a Panerai is collecting straps. Buying a new strap sometimes can scratch the itch of buying something new.

Just buy the watch you really like. The best thing about Panerai is that you can always buy a strap you like and change it out.
