Submariner 1680 question

Hello community.
I recently bought a 1680, one of my grail watches.
Sometimes when the watch has stopped, I use the Crown to rewind it.
At some point the watch gives a little vibration, after approx. 20-25 rewinds.

Is this normal? Is this the watch telling me ‘its enough’ or is it telling me “too much”?

Thanks in advance
Anders

Don't know..

If the watch is slipping in the barrel it is telling you that the barrel is shot. If it's just the mainspring flexing it may mean that it is a bit dry.

It is not telling you that you have or have not wound it enough, which should be around twice that if it is completely stopped.

If it is the first case, it needs a service call and it will not hold a full 40 hour power reserve, since the mainspring cannot be fully wound.
If it is the second issue, I wouldn't worry about it until something goes wrong, as long as it can be wound, unwinding is gradual enough to not become problematic and you can wait for that clean, oil, and adjust service.

Its not a red no.
I dont know about the last service, but i got the watch checked to see if it was real at my go-to watchmechanic who said the watch needed a clense/service. So maybe its time. The watch works perfect though, holds the time aswel.

If it hasn't been serviced recently, that's surely needed. But to answer your question, we would need more information. For example, what is the power reserve? If you wind it 50 times and put the watch down, how long does it run before stopping?

I bought my 1680 / service history unknown

Put the service off & off till eventually the watch stopped working last year

Got it serviced/ working perfectly & now got that peace of mind that watch should be ok for next 10 or so years.

Basically what I’m saying is unless you know when yours was last serviced - I’d be looking to get it booked in/ serviced/checked out

Always service asap. Last yr got my Pepsi 1968 from a very reputable dealer, the service was not specified. So i took it to the best repair guy I know and although in general its in a great condition, there is one of the part that has to be replaced in movement (not a big surprised its 53 yrs old) and the plexiglass, the side part was already breaking and had to be replaced.
