Have we been saying Rolex ‘rose’ gold all wrong????

Is it Rose like Rose from the Golden Girls, or is it rosé like the wine?!!!?

Spoke to my great aunt’s best friend’s French-Swiss cousin in Stein em Rhein Switzerland and she said it’s pronounced rosé.

What gives?

Rose is a flower but Rosé is a wine.
It’s Rose Gold.
I believe it’s to do with the red or pinky colour.

Interesting.

I’ve bought or repurposed roses the flowers before and they’re red yellow or white.

How the heck did this name come up??

Rose gold is a blend, or an alloy of pure 24 karat yellow gold, copper and silver. ... Less yellow gold , and a higher copper content will result in a more reddish rose color. As an example 14K rose gold is more of a rose pink color than 18K rose gold due to the higher yellow gold content in 18K.

Rose Gold it’s in the mix.

Why would you pronounce the first word of a two word phrase in one language, and the second word in the same phrase in a different language?

Yes, in France, where they will never apparently be able to sell rose gold submariners.

I live in (french speeking) Switzerland.

And it is "RosE" gold, like the flower, ou "or rose". It means "pink gold".

Le vin rosé est en général de la piquette = Rosé wine is generally very bad wine.
If you want a good wine, pick "grave rouge" wine, or "haut médoc".

Thanks for your input.

So then ‘Geneva’ is incorrect too. Rolex says Geneva but used to say Genève and Tudor says Genève today.

They need to get a handle on this.

Wow I didn't know the term rose derived from the golden girls lady. That's cool to know and a fun conversation starter at red bar events
