UK Rolex/Watch insurance
Hi TRFers,
I was hoping to seek thoughts from those in the UK (as I am UK based) about watch insurance. How do you insure your watches? Do you cover individually or multiwatch insure? I know people use their home insurance to cover their watches as an option. What if you don't have home insurance or rent? How about for travel (both business and pleasure)? Where can I best read about my options and costs? Many thanks in advance! |

I live in the UK and added mine onto my Hastings house insurance.
」28 increase to cover my Lvc purchase price of 」6600 both inside and outside the home. Cannot argue with that! |

Whilst we’re on the subject, does anyone insure multiple watches?
Having a large collection they are all kept in a very good safe with only one ever out at a time. I’m after a policy that will insure all of them, so long as only one is being worn at any given time. Any suggestions? |

I insure my house and contents through Hiscox and they insure my watches both worn and, any over 」15k, are covered even if not worn so long as specified and stored in a secure safe approved by them. They are the only company who would insure my PT DD40.

For reference, TH march is almost 」1000 per year for a 5524G which is much less than the 」53.5 of cover... no thanks.

I致e got 」50k worth of watches/jewellery and unlimited home contents insurance with Hiscox for 」600. That includes worldwide cover and no requirement for valuation for any piece < 」15k. Unlimited contents cover in my postcode without the valuables would be circa 」200 p/a so roughly 」400 for 」50k valuables p/a. |

My home insurance premium in the UK is rather high in my opinion, but extremely good value, with seven Rolex and some sizeable jewellery valuations... they said that they would not cover me normally, however, I have gradually added watches etc as I have acquired them. esure of all those out there, first rate!

I am with AXA for the home insurance, they do a few options but look at their top line option, I think it is called Homesafe. You can fill in an online form with house details, number of bedrooms etc, postcode, then on the option for values away from home you can alter it to any figure you like, I think mine is something like total value away from home is say 」50000 with a limit of 」15000 per item.
I cut my insurance costs by about 60% and am only paying about 」340 for building, contents and valuables/watches etc. Well worth a look, I actually found out about it from another forum chap. I did already have some of my vehicles insured with them already anyway.

I switched insurer to Aviva, as the previous insurer (Sainsbury's) would not cover us when I got the wife her mid size YM.
We already had my BLNR and her engagement ring as specified items.....but there was an overall maximum limit for specified items and the extra Rolex surpassed it. So, we switched to Aviva who took all 3 as specified items no problem, for a reasonable additional premium. It was actually cheaper than the previous cover with Sainsburys iirc. |

same as most uk insurance.
The ridiculous part was once i had one rolex insured with them and i had no safe requirement and then added a second watch and they added the safe requirement for both watches because one of them was above the limit which triggers having a safe. The same Rolex now had to be in a safe where it previously didn't to be covered if i was not wearing it and the premium on that watch didn't go down. Its ridiculous because their risk went down as previously i could have left it in the front window for all the people walking by to see and steal.

Just like for everything else, balance the cost benefit. If the insurance is cheap, then why not. If the insurance rate is high, then I don't really see the point. Just look after your watch and take basic precautions. |

I don't bother; for me watches are a luxury . If I didn't have them, life would go on as normal. A lot of insurance hides behind endless 'conditions' when you try to collect.

I知 about to insure my watches with Ripe Insurance.
Never dealt with them before but they were substantially cheaper than a couple of other companies I got quotes from. https://www.ripeinsurance.co.uk/valu...tch-insurance/ |

My previous insurer wouldn’t cover me having added a new piece this year, so they suggested I try a high net worth insurance comparison site.
So covered 48k watches (5no) for 」380 p/a inside and away from home. Also able to detail model and serial numbers for all. Worth taking a look. https://www.money.co.uk/home-insuran...-insurance.htm
