The Humble DJ

How many of you have had or have a SS DJ.
I wear a TT Daytona during the week at work, but come Friday night of Saturday morning strap on a SS DJ.

It's my favourite Rolex and a birth year stainless was one of my grails.

Only decent shot I've got of it at the moment. It's back on a bracelet now.

Nice watch. If I get another Rolex, it will be a DJ II with blue dial and sticks.

One of the classic Rolexes - must be on a jubilee and have a fluted bezel for me. Silver dial was my choice - and its for sale if anyone wants it.

This board seems dominated by sports models, maybe I am old school, or just old, but the classic DJ is still my favorite Rolex. There is something about the fluted bezel, and classic style that draws me in everytime I see one. Classy. I guess a Sub or Explorer would be nice, but I still choose the DJ as my go to.

For me my 16013 is an iconic watch and the most representative of the Rolex brand; I don't think of the DJ as humble nor any Rolex or Tudor for that matter.

Hi,

I had this for about two years, an Oysterquartz Datejust in white Rolesor. You just can't go wrong with a Datejust of any kind, I feel - it's a true classic that will just never go out of fashion.

I love the datejust so much. I was at a local small AD today and I tried on my grail watch. The 116233 two tone datejust on jubilee with a white dial. Absolutely beautiful. I am determined now to save for it, and flip my 116200. I was floored when I tried it on

True confession: while I was building my career to the point where I could afford my ownn Rolex, I wore a Seiko rip-off of the DJ, which reminded me of my goal.

I will always consider it among the signature classic Rolex watches.

Loving that Oysterquartz.

I don't remember the reference, but the version with the auto movement in the Oq case is one I'd love to have too.

Hi,

Thanks ! The references you're thinking of are the 1530 (Oyster Perpetual Date in all stainless, looks like the OQ ref 17000) and the 1630 (Oyster Perpetual Datejust in yellow Rolesor, looks like OQ 17013).

This looks like a date just 2. But surely a dj2 does not come with fluted bezel?

I love my DJ. I' in a reverse pattern to you. I wear my DJ weekdays then switch to a sports model on weekends. By the way nothing "humble" about the DJ. In Rolex's own words it is the "Ultimate Classic Rolex Watch".

A Datejust in any metal is described by many words.
Able-bodied
Beguiling
Classic
Definitive
Exemplar
Fundamental
Graceful
Humble???

No - in the A to Z of adjectives I'd not say humble. Methinks honorable is apt.
