Hi All,

I'm new here and would like all the expertise on this GMT 1675 if I should grab it. Pictures are from my local private seller.

Thanks in advance,

The dial and bezel look like aftermarket parts to me. The bezel looks like a "hooked 2" bezel. On the dial, the dots at the top of the coronet look a little large. Also what looks off to me are the minute markers going around the edge of the dial. They look shorter than normal. Other experts should chime in with some pictures.

agree with this assessment - the dial looks odd, so does the crown.

You're welcome. Just being honest, but it is very difficult to trust many vintage watches there in Thailand where you are. Many of them are genuine but with aftermarket parts put on like this one. All original examples are out there, but you will have to really search for them. Anyways welcome to the forums.

I'm not an expert but I think:

Fake case and insert.
Refinished or fake dial.

Run away from that and look for a dealer or seller recommended on this site.

I've never seen such a high gloss on the serial numbers between the lugs. And, then there are all the other things that have already been pointed out. Welcome to the forum.

1675 Help Please

Hi guys. I want to get your opinion on this watch. Seller is asking $9k. Year is 1972. Bezel looks too clean to be original but I am not an expert. Here are some pictures. I apologize for the low quality pictures. What else should I be on the lookout for?

Impossible to tell from those images. Is the watch on sale from a legitimate business?

Yes, the seller is legitimate. He said if I have it inspected and it’s not what I thought I can return no questions asked. Sorry about the pictures, they weren’t the best to start and I am new to posting. I am going today to get some additional and better pics.

Someone said "Run Forrest Run!", I agree.
Bezel insert is aftermarket, probably bezel too. The case is extremely polished, look at the lugs, the top left has a differente shape than the top right.
Dial is very weird. I do not see anything interesting on this watch. If you buy it cheap, you may take it as a good project, but this days it will cost yo a fortune to get the correct part to bring it at a decent level. Case back for a Long E should have the Year Quarter Number (I/71, II/71). I would skip this.

Dial is too clean and the bezel insert numbers are too big. Run away from it.
