Most body soaps contain glycerin which is a skin softener but also doesn't rinse completely clean. Dish soap on the other hand is made to break down oils and grease and rinses completely clean. I wash mine daily usually at the end of the day with a small ultra soft baby wash cloth, warm water and Dawn. For PM pieces, this cleans the gold thoroughly without scratching the highly polished PCL links and case sides. Dry with a clean bathroom hand towel and voila, done. I have to use the sink to wash face and brush teeth every night anyway

I shower with my daily beater a Datejust from 2012 and wash it with a spunch and shampoo, and have done so since 2012, works great for me but I know many disagree. I also once or twice a month clean it with dish soap as so many others and a brush of some sort.

Rolex's are not as delicate as most people in here seem to think. I know several of my dads friends that have used the same Rolex daily for 20-30 years, no service, no special treatment and it still works as great as a Seiko Five, maybe even better? Perhaps it is only luck and their watch is about to snap any minute

It would probably survive the dishwasher if you were so inclined

Otherwise, gentle soap, soft toothbrush and warm water. Dry on any non abrasive cloth you want.

List the multiple reasons.

Wrist Clean.....It works perfectly and is designed for the job. They also sell fantastic cleaning cloths as well.

Why people spend thousands on a watch and than clean it with dishwashing liquid is beyond me. Wrist Clean is dirt cheap as well. One of the unwritten laws on this forum is that unless you use Dawn dishwashing liquid you are somehow out of the loop.

My Rolex is designed to be worn at insane depths in hostile, salt water environments. Rolex watches have been boiled by Rolex and frozen. Without problems.

Pretty sure wearing it in the shower is not a poor idea. At all. On any level.

C'mon!

Wear it 24/7. If you do clean yourself you'll wash it too.

It's a Rolex, remember?

1. Because it works
2. It’s more convenient
3. It’s cheaper

Spending thousands on a watch doesn’t mean you have to buy fancy watch spray when dish soap works just as well

What a surprise answer.....Why is an inexpensive product designed to CLEAN YOUR WATCH fancy? Dishwashing Soap is designed for DISHES. Dishwashing liquid is a degreaser as well. A product designed specifically for a purpose seems like the more logical choice to me. To each his own.

I've tried Wrist Clean and found it worked better on SS than YG. I like Dawn with a soft brush and micro cloth and will likely stick with this cleaning strategy.

I fly my Gulfstream to Switzerland several times a month; I only let Rolex people wash my watches. It also saves money on having to buy WatchClean or Dawn soap.

This is the best plan by far. Very interesting - but is it safe to fly your Rolex while wearing your Gulfstream

Nothing fancy is needed

I use the following:

Ivory bar soap (99.9% pure!)
Tooth brush
Water

I either clean my Rolexes in the shower or in my sink with a wash cloth underneath in case I drop it. In the shower I keep it on my arm.

Soap it up. Scrub. Rinse.

Ivory soap rises totally clean. Dry with bath towel.

My Rolexes look jewelry store clean ALL the time.

In the summer shower with it and soap and rinse as needed. Once a while submerse in a glass with dish washing soap for a little while and rinse thoroughly after. That’s pretty much in. Obviously leather or nylon straps need different treatment.

Discussed a lot over the years. Dawn dish soap and water will remove body oils and leave it sparkling. Dry with a soft dish towel. I have used this method for decades. I make a diluted Dawn soap and water mix in a foaming pump bottle next to all my sinks. I clean my watches almost every day after I wear them.

Well, I don't own Dawn Dishwashing liquid so It would be cost inefficient for me. A bottle of wrist clean has lasted me a year so it's kinda foolish to make this assumption.

If Dawn can clean an oil spill off a duck in a commercial it can clean my watches

1) Dawn
2) Toothbrush
3) Water

Potential tile/hard surface accidents? Irrational fear of steam? I've been doing it years using all kinds of soaps without issue and never felt it was particularly dangerous. Like others I like my watches showroom clean.

Cleaning a Rolex

Uni-tasker cleaning products aren’t necessary. But each to his own.

If you wash your car with a clear liquid soap that has no wax additives - it’ll do fine in a very diluted form.

If you have clear liquid hand soap - it’ll do fine in a diluted form.

If you have baby shampoo - it’ll do fine in a diluted form.

If you have the clear dishwashing liquid that comes in a foam pump - it’ll do fine as is.

If you have any of the foam pump hand soaps without lotion - it’ll do fine as is.

If you have mild window cleaner cloths - they’ll do fine for a quick surface wipe.

I think you get the point - you prolly have a dozen options already hanging around the house that can do just fine.

But we shouldn’t judge people by the label on their watch washing product.
