I believe that timeframe will work for me - will have to wait for final verification a bit later. Now remember, I'm in England for a month - the GTG is just a PART of what I will be doing. I'll have two women to keep entertained, so not much room for carousing with a bunch of WISs!!!

Tenative schedule is to be in London area around sept 10-14, I really want to make oktoberfest, at least for a day or 2, in my lifetime. then on from munich on to Accra, Ghana, then back to London. I know you are close to Lon, so as time get closer we can pick a time / place
any others interested are definitely welcome

I wanted to take a cruise out of Southampton and it'll be impossible to make it,too far from London!
How about the train?

1hr 25 mins form Southampton Central to London Waterloo.
A nice stroll over Waterloo Bridge and you're in the West End.

Yes, as long as you pre purchase the ticket (and knowing where you need to go...)

For your train journey, try Southampton to Waterloo station.

http://www.thetrainline.com/buytickets/
http://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/

Definitely pre-book, so you can reserve your seat/discounted ticket.

Once in Waterloo, you can get an all day travel pass for the tube (ermm, subway).
