AP 15300 vs 15400

Would love to hear everyone’s insight on this. Decided I’m ready to trade in my Sub 116613lb and upgrade to an AP RO. But I’m faced with the dilemma on whether a 41mm (15400) or 39mm (15300) would fit better on my wrist (6.75” with flat top). I’m pretty certain the majority will say the 39mm but wondering if I would regret getting the 41mm 15400 in blue dial since I can find a better deal on it, despite paying a premium for it. I was able to try on the 15500 and 15450 at the AD Boutique. I felt the 37mm was too small on my wrist. Thoughts on if the 15400 blue dial would be a decision I may regret?

39mm is the best size for most people. With your wrist size 6.75" flat top, you can go for 41mm also. Between 15300st and 15400st blue dial at a good price, I would pick 15400st. It's a lot less problem with a brand new one than the old one. But if you compare with 39mm 15202st, definitely it would be the jumbo for sure.

If size is a priority I'd go for the 39mm and in black as the blue is a very dark navy, if blue is the priority then I'd go for the vibrant blue 41mm.

I think 41mm would suit your wrist better and also a newer watch will perform better and in better condition especially if you buy a 2018 one.

Appreciate the feedback everyone. So it sounds like the 41mm doesn’t look as big as I had questioned before. Also great point on the blue(navy) dual on the 15300 doesn’t pop as much as the 15400. So that right there should almost move the needle towards getting the 41mm.

Opinions on dial color options on the 15400 if the blue becomes too difficult to obtain? I’m torn between the grey and black. But I also like the white *♂️

All dial colors are beautiful, blue is the most popular and very hard to get. If you want certain color only, you might have to wait long. If you like all colors, you might get it faster.

Went through a very similar process a couple of years back. Personally couldn't get comfortable with how the 41mm looked on my wrist (similar size to yours) and the 37mm looked too small. Ended with a 39mm 26120 and I love it.

That said, the 41mm in your pic looks way better on you that it ever did on me.

i have a 15300 blue and love it. i have a 7" wrist and think it fits perfectly. and i love the color of the blue.

note that i have also owned a 15400 and 15500. as well as the 15202. personally i thought the 15400 and 15500 were too big for me. the 39mm is perfect.

I’d go 15300. The 41mm will wear too big on you in my view. The black dial 15300 is fantastic as it has the sunburst dial. I have a blue dial 15450 but I prefer the black dial of my 15300.

I have a 7" wrist, had the 15400 and found it too large. Went to the 15300 and never looked back on that decision. I happen to love the smokey blue of the 15300 as well, as opposed to the more vibrant.

For those with a 15300, do you mind sharing wrist shots so I can gauge how it looks like with your wrist size?

Is that a blue dial or black? Can't really tell bc of the sunburst. Either way yours and Skanse's watch looks great!

I have same size wrist and flat profile. 15400 is the way to go. Picture can be misleading depending on the angle.

15300 is a lovely size, I thought the 15400/15500 too big for my 6.75 wrist
I also like the AP logo at 12 and the ivory date wheel

Think the 39mm size would suit most wrist sizes better, only problem is that the 15300 is starting to get along in age so harder to find a better example and serviced than 15400/15500.

Although personally I'm not a fan of the AP logo at 12, seems a bit elongated to me and also prefer the classic double stack. 15400 gets my vote!
