Seeking Help: AP Boutique Choice

I own a few pieces of Rolex and VC and decided to start working AP into my collection. I would like to start a relationship with an AP boutique by probably buying a lady's watch for my wife. Then hopefully i might get allocated an 15500 (not blue) with some wait. When AP updates the caliber for ROO Diver or ROO 42mm i might pick up a piece or two there. Eventually, I would like to have a chance to buy the 15407 which is my grail watch. Roughly speaking I can see myself spending 100k-150k ish prior to 15407.

Since I live in NJ, the only two AP boutiques that are somewhat close to me is the one in Manhattan and the one in Manhasset in long island. The third choice will be to wait for the meat pack district AP to open in Manhattan. Is there an obvious choice among those three with whom i should start my relationship? The goal is to maximize my chance of getting a 15407.

Thanks in advance.

Is spending 100-150k enough for a look at the 15407? I’m not sure myself but would get clarity on that first.

I doubt there will ever be clarity. The money spent on 15500 i am sure is counted differently from money spent on 11.59. I do not plan to buy the pieces i do not like. A shot at 15407 is more an optimization problem.

That makes sense. Let me know if you get more clarity on this - would love to know myself as well.

You might as well go grey on the 407 if you consider “building up your relationship” versus the current premium...about the same and you won’t have to end up with things you don’t want.

If it costs the same, though, wouldn't it make more sense to end up with things you don't want since you can sell them (at a loss) later? Can't sell the "grey market premium" to anyone once you've paid it. :)
