My wife joined the Rolex family

My wife enjoys watches but not to the degree I do. Over several trips to ADs over the last couple of years, I learned she liked the simplicity of the SS Datejust with smooth bezel and oyster bracelet - she feels the jubilee and fluted bezel looks like an old persons watch Thats ok, that's why Rolex makes different styles.

I just found a 2008 31mm DJ in MINT condition with full B&P at far less than half of a new one and I surprised her with it as an early 10th anniversary gift. She was not expecting it at all and was dumbfounded and loves it.

To be honest, it literally looks new out of the box without a single scratch... not even a desk dive scratch on the clasp. Whomever bought this either never wore it or only sparingly!

Lastly, the 78240 was the perfect model because she prefers the brushed bracelet to the newer PCLs.

Now I'm jealous! I want the new 41mm DJ with smooth bezel stick dial on oyster, but for now I'll live vicariously through this 31mm classic!

On to some pictures!

And why is she not a member of TRF? I have an excuse; my wife only wears Citizen Eco watches because there is no maintenance at all.

Beautiful watch. I've long wanted to get a Rolex for my wife, but she refuses to wear a watch. Simply isn't in to it. I hope your Mrs. Enjoys it as much as a fine timepiece like this warrants. Hope that you get your own upgrade too, although that Explorer II looks pretty great!

I would hate it if my wife liked watches too. I don't think I could afford the hobby if every time I bought a watch I had to buy her one. Although perhaps she might be more understanding.

Congratulations to your wife I hope she enjoys her watch. It's beautiful.
I am a female who obsessed about watches since being a little girl. I am glad I have a husband who shares my passion. We both enable eachother but I am not too sure it's great for our wallet. Being a member of this forum I feel like I am the only female here. I am surprised more women don't like watches.
