Yeh Laing want a deposit upfront with no guarantee when you'll get the watch.

When I wanted an Air king they wouldn't put me on the "list" without a deposit, yet couldn't give me an ETA. I ended up getting one elsewhere immediately (with a few calls and a bit of travelling)

I don't think ADs will get strictly 1 BLNR a month. I've heard ADs say they've not had one for several months. Who knows....could all be BS

Thanks mate. first purchase, was after the blnr but with current availability could be a case of picking up the Ln and playing the waiting game. Couple ADs I spoke to wouldn't even take blnr names without previous purchases from them.

Put your name down with a local AD and I doubt you will wait longer than 3 months for a BLNR.

I was speaking to one of the partners at my local privately owned AD and he was saying that they are no longer putting people without a buying history or locals on lists, especially the day the new models were released. He said a lot of people state they live elsewhere but work locally, which is true for a lot of people who do work in Aberdeen but he doubts anyone who called that day did in fact work here.

You will find you are quoted a long wait time, but most of the people ahead of you won't actually want the watch after all.

Id echo above. Ended up on a Glasgow ADs list for the BLNR and when they got one in either people didnt answer their phone, or didnt have the cash available so I struck it lucky.

I'm no expert but I'd say no discount but you would be eligible for tax free sales. Not sure what tax implications for you taking back to Australia though.

Watches are available, they just happen to be kept in the safe for preferred customers or as sweetners to buy.

I don't think you'll find a new one of either at ADs in the UK.
Far better off trying somewhere like Watchfinders...

http://www.watchfinder.co.uk/NewArrivals

They can usually get any watch from their stock to one of their stores within a day or two. I'd recommend them, they have a good reputation and remember to claim back the VAT which is included in the price you see.

Fraser Hart Kingston and Brent Cross just out of the city pop up on a lot of UK forums with decent stock levels.

Yeah, foreigners can buy from Watchfinder as they get such large discounts, leave the ADs for us poor lot.

Watchfinder Canary Wharf have a less than 2 month old 114060 in for just above list at £5,750.

Sure that could be trimmed a little if you asked nicely....

I think people from abroad try and claim the VAT back and on a "preowned" watch this will not be possible. Add the VAT refund to the already cheaper price and bingo!

That's why visitors from abroad "raid" the ADs.

Makes sense, I thought if you have a watch with stickers that could be regarded as new but I suppose you need to buy from an AD who will issue the tax forms you will need.

Do they have a good reputation? I think reaction to Watchfiinder is rather more mixed. You have to be careful, they can be tricky with their descriptions and evasive language. Examine the watch, judge carefully for yourself.
As secondhand stuff sells for more in the U.K, you might be better off buying back at home.

As you say you must examine the watch closely but WF are a much more professional outfit than before. They are becoming pretty huge, with many outlets, and have even sponsored car TV programmes.
