FS: 1984 Rolex Submariner 16800 Transitional with Matte Dial

I’ve got a very beautiful example of the Rolex Submariner transitional model 16800. It has a 8.4m serial which dates it to 1984.

This reference has a matte dial that has aged beautifully - almost to a very desirable desirable pumpkin color. There is a small nick on the 6 o’clock marker but everything remains perfectly in tact. The hour and minute hands are original tritium that have aged lighter than the dial, but I had the seconds hand color matched due to some loss in material. Although it would’ve looked more uniform in color, I opted to keep the tritium hands as-is, since it is more desirable to have original tritium than color matching material.

The bezel has achieved a blue grey color, the desirable “ghost” bezel. The lume pip has also aged to a dark pumpkin to match the dial. The sapphire crystal is in excellent shape, without any scratches or nicks.

The case has been slightly polished, but still remains thick and retains some of its bevels as you can see in the pictures. It will come on a 93150 bracelet with 583 end links. The clasp has been polished.

The last service was in 2005, and the watch is keeping time well. The sale is for watch only, without box or papers.
