GMT fuchsias. Now is good time to show them off.

There have been a couple threads here lately where the GMT fuchsia bezel insert have been the topic of discussion. Whether you love the fuchsia, or have not warmed up to them yet, these later half of the 1960s inserts have become quite popular with GMT collectors.

With that said, let's see some of those fuchsia GMTs - whether it is period correct with the model 1675 or found on the later 16750 model like the example below, let's see what you have.

Personally think this is the best combo optically - never wanted to stump up the extra for one, realise I should have done back in early 2000s - Btw think Rolex, instead of that daft destro in green/black, they should have done a ceramic version of this and it would have floated the profile with New Rolex fans .

No they weren't original. The color pigments from that era seemed to change with time and bring out the fuchsia color.

Brilliant �� fantastic post for the forgers to latch on to.

I'm considering this one. Then its not period correct for my mk2 1972. Is it because its expensive and therefore a bit exclusive? I'm not sure why I want it! And my eyesight isn't even that brilliant these days. Are we self feeding a frenzy for no reason for just vanity?

You are way, way over-thinking this. Settle down and get yourself a fuchsia if that is what you want. You don't need anyone's approval here or elsewhere to feed your Rolex passion. Enjoy the day and Merry Christmas!

If it makes you feel better, or worse, there is a guy that already makes faithful reproductions. Blue backs to keep everyone honest but they are really close.

Great minds think alike! I always thought a ceramic fuchsia would look fantastic. But my guess is that Rolex would see it as a homage to an "Error" or defect.

Question: Did RSC routinely replace these when GMT's were sent in for service?

Awesome! That is my birth year and I am still looking for a good 1675 for my collection. Most that I see have non-MK1 service dials, incorrect date wheels or bracelets, or if all original- Are too worn down and in beat-up condition. Someday...
