i wasnt sure, because after i bought it on impulse oversease, someone said that the regular speedy is much cheaper and is the same movement, and that blue ones arent really a 'classic 321 speedy'.

So I like it but hope to learn a lot more. the omega boutique was sort of not sure about what to say about the watch, and asked me if it was a US edition (?)

Beautiful speedy! The Tokyo collection is one of omega’s best productions imho!

beautiful watch, great find and congrats!

Almost any strap looks good on speedmasters, the speedy is the ultimate strap monster. I like the ones that Delugs makes.

I really like the look of that speedy. Blue pandas are definitely hard to come by, and to me that and the white/black panda are the bests one of the Tokyo 2020 release. You got a good eye. I assume you got it in Japan?

I wouldn’t care much for the opinion that it’s not a “classic 321 speedy”. Most Speedmaster don’t have the 321 movement, and it’s a special movement to have in the Speedy. I would say that it doesn’t feel as much like a moonwatch though, given it’s association with the 2020 Olympics. It’s also a bit of an interesting watch given the 2020 olympics obviously didn’t happen.

It’s a similar watch to another LE omega did - the Gemini 4 released in the early 2000’s. All of the 5 Tokyo’s were driven by earlier designs of one shape or form. They are cracking pieces. For me, the OP’s blue is the pick of the bunch (although I was strangely drawn to the green/grey)

It’s not a boggo moonwatch, but it has the same 1861 movement as all modern ones. Your OB/AD may not have known about them as they were japan sale only.

The regular Moonwatch is easy to come by, and plenty of people have one. This one is beautiful, harder to get (only in Japan and 2020pcs only), and has a very slim chance of you bumping into another person wearing the same watch.
If your friend mentioned about '321', then that's even more expensive at 14k.
All three are very different. That's why some people could have all three in a single collection.

That is a beauty, I had one and part ex'd it. To this day I regret letting it go, the dial is incredible and it has a micro adjustable bracelet as a bonus. I would enjoy owning it and ignore any comments about 321 movements and cost compared to a standard Moonwatch

Why did you let it go? Am potentially picking one up so would be good to know.

What does “boggo” mean?

I’m going to learn all my British slang on TRF. :)
