How do I post video attachments to my email?
Occasionally--ok, actually quite often--I get a video attached to an email that I would like to post in the Jokes & Cartoons Section.
My question is, how can I post that video using Windows Media Player instead of Photobucket? The problem with using Pb is that often the videos look good on WMP but for some reason not so good on Pb's media player. Here's a typical scenario: I'll receive an email with a video attached, for example "CSI.wmv (997.3 KB)", that I can click on to bring up a dialog box. The box gives me three choices: "Open", "Save" and "Cancel". When I click on "Open", the video begins downloading to a Temporary File on my computer. Once the video has finished downloading, WMP opens automatically and the video begins playing. Unfortunately, I'm not all that computer savvy and haven't been able to figure out how to do the same thing in a TRF post. I tried posting my email link but that doesn't work because you have to sign in to my email program. I'd like to be able to post the video so that it will open the same dialog box and download into a Temporary File, then automatically open WMP and play as if it were an email attachment. Is that possible? If so, can one of you computer types out there walk me through the process? If so, please use small words and no detail is too small. Thanks!

I would suggest that you open up a free photobucket account, upload the file to your account and post a link to the uploaded file from your TRF post. It sounds more complex than it actually is.
A bonus is that photobucket's bandwith gets used, not TRF.

Paul, thanks for the reply, but I already tried that. The problem is that most of the videos don't look very good on Photobucket, due to what I assume is some sort of technical problem moving Windows Media Player videos to Pb's player. That's why I'm looking for a way to post a link to directly to the video so that it plays in Windows Media Player (or Apple's Quick Time, I don't care which), just like the videos do when they come to me via attachments to my email.

I have created a code whereby you can insert YouTube videos.
So if you can load your video to YouTube you can then put the code in to show it here. e.g. [y t]put in the YouTube video number here[/y t] But don't leave a space between the y and the t inside the brackets i.e. yt not y t An example of a YouTube video number is frZyFEC6ZSA&rel=1 So you would have [y t]frZyFEC6ZSA&rel=1[/y t] but without the spaces between y and t, and that's it You get the YouTube video number from the 'embed' box found on YouTube and displayed next to the video showing on the screen |

Thanks, Steve.
That may solve the problem, although some of these videos are racier than I would feel comfortable putting on You Tube.
