Watchfinder

Good evening everyone;

I’m new to this forum.

I am lucky enough to own two Rolex’s, a Datejust and a Sub...

Like a lot of people I’ve been waiting for a Daytona for a long long time and I’m fed up of waiting...

I’ve found a couple of really nice Daytona’s on Watchfinder... both from 2018 with all the relevant paperwork etc.. but I have two questions;

1) Are Watchfinder legit? I’ve read their multiple reviews and they seem to be well thought of?

2) If I were to purchase one of the Daytona would the Warranty from Rolex still be valid?

I looked at a couple for sale from WatchMaster as well but they’re based in Berlin and therefore to spend that amount of money without physically seeing the timepiece would be irresponsible..

Watchfinder have been very helpful and I’m going to their Brent Cross show room to see the watches in person, but I was hoping to hear from anyone with any thoughts on this matter?

I’d be really grateful for your input and experiences as I intend to trade in my Sub towards the Daytona.

Thank you in advance :)

Vaf

I bought from WF and found them very good.
We visited the Leeds branch to get a YM 35mm for the wife in 2016.

The watch still had stickers on with the warranty card stamped at a dealers in Italy a couple of months earlier, but with no name on it.
In those days, it was trading at a discount to new of about £800.
They also offered a good p/X on her Omega SM mid size (double the poor p/x offered elsewhere. £1k v £500)

Last month we had a problem with winding the watch.
It went back to Rolex Service Centre London under warranty and was fixed no problem.

I don't know if this is true but my AD told me to be careful as they have been told they are repairing / servicing watches with not authentic Rolex parts. Apparently they don't have a Rolex parts account?

Watchfinder don't have an account as far as I know, I was in their London store earlier this year browsing the watches when a guy came in with his Submariner asking if Watchfinder would service his Sub as he didn't want to pay Rolex prices. The SA politely advised that they don't service Rolex watches as they are not accredited service agents.

The guy pointed out the fact that on their website states that the watches are serviced by Watchfinder, the SA again advised that the watches are not serviced just inspected to ensure that they work within the Company's tolerances.

Asked if the SA could recommend somewhere to get his watch serviced the SA stated that he should either find an independent watchmaker with a Rolex account or send his watch to Rolex.

Seem to be legit, albeit a bit on the expensive side compared to other places I've seen.

I have only sold to watchfinder but they were absolutely fine. If you’re looking for a white dial 116500 and are willing to pay the grey price mark worthington in Cheshire has one on his website fully stickered which is quite unusual these days as stickers are generally removed by the AD. It’s £24,995 and has been advertised over a week, I think that they’ve hit a peak now and are beginning to hang around when priced in the mid-20’s. That’s just from my observations mind you, I’d like one so have been following the market for a while.

WatchFinder are fantastic for anything other than Rolex and Patek.

I happen to know from a friend and former colleague who is a developer there, that they place an uplift transform on certain products to inflate after a certain duration as part of their pricing strategy!

I have both bought and sold with watchfinder and found them to be efficient if a little expensive.

I have bought several watches from WF. Generally ok, but did have some issues.
1. Strap for Chopard Mille Miglia snapped.
2. Panerai 510 had severe condensation issue

The P/X is ok, but when it comes to selling, they are pretty tight.

Watchfinder have a rather mixed reputation here in the UK. Personally, my one experience of buying from them was pretty dreadful. I don’t really trust them. Some people on this thread are clearly satisfied, but I wonder how representative that is. Caution is advised, examine what they say carefully.
For instance, does the salesman have a genuine knowledge of the history of the watch?

I have sold to Watchfinder and PX with them on a Rolex, prices I received was fair.

The communication with the sales team was first class, phone calls followed up with email.

The watch I bought had been serviced by Rolex a month earlier, came with service stickers and a plastic 2 year warranty card. I was confident that the watch had been serviced correctly with authentic parts.

My experience was very good.
