HBO's Westworld series

Anyone else enjoy this series? Just binged on season one.

It is about a Western theme park where the wealthy (35K pr day) can visit and play cowboy and shoot bad guys and screw women, all of which are androids that look like, think, and act like humans. They are called Hosts and cannot hurt the human guests.

This new iteration of the 40 year old eponymous movie (which starred Yul Brynner), was inspired by the controversial book The Origin of Consciousness and the Breakdown of the Bicameral mind (this is not a spoiler as the last episode is name The Bicameral Mind).

The series raises profound question about what it means to be human, what is consciousness, etc.

Filming has started on season 2.

I agree with all of you. I have watched every season of GoT, and think Westworld is more thought provoking on a philosophical level.

I love the show. It is visually captivating and mentally stimulating. The cast is also fantastic, with my favorite so far being Thandie Newton.

No, I want to watch but the wife is not interested. Maybe I'll watch on my own.

Superb show. Feel like they could have/should have kept it at one season, but I'll tune in again, sure.

Really really enjoyed it.

Anxiously waiting for season 2....

I just finished American Gods which was also excellent. However watching it on my laptop during long haul flight was a little awkward. Some very blue scenes made me conscious of who else might be able to see the screen.

Westworld is the best thing that HBO has done since season 1 of True Detective.

It took me about 3-4 episodes to fall for it.... then I believed it was one of the best series ever.

I didn't like it.

too slow moving and reminds me of Lost i.e. the writers don't know where they are going.

My wife and I love it but it took us a little time to get into as well. Great show and looking forward to season 2. Hopefully it can live up to season 1.

Started slow, but I really liked it. Wife gave up early...I thought the last few episodes were outstanding. Looking forward to next season.

Ended up watching Episode 1 last night - interesting, kinda liked it, but still not sure if I want to invest the time. I mean, usually by the end of the second episode of a show, know that I will/will not like it. To have to make it to 4......hmmmm

It just takes the 3-4 episodes to grasp what in the hell is going on. Makes it worth it. If I remember 3 made it click and 4 blew my mind.

Funny you posted this. Just started it Sunday and had a long discussion with a friend about it yesterday. Very interesting concept but ultimately something I wouldn't participate in if money weren't an option and it were a reality.the show is very interesting none the less. Only made it through the first 2 episodes so far but I'm pretty hooked.

It's back...

"When season two of Westworld ended back in April 2018, it felt like season three would never come. The year 2020 felt so far away. Well, that time has finally passed and Westworld season three is coming —with a brand-new trailer that hammers the point home in as epic a way possible.

Westworld will return for its third season on March 15 ."

I'm going to run through it again real quick on an upcoming trip. I was more distracted in season 2, and it also tried to cover too much.
