That lady on the right is telling her friends all about you.

And then she told them it was lucky for you it wasn't leg day, because she would have buried hers.

She's actually laughing and telling her friends how she was going to kick Ninjas ass, but he backed down. That's a tough gym....

1)There are no signs posted prohibiting you from talking on the phone.
2)Conversation was not in her face but to the side
3)Conversation was short.

I don't see what you did wrong?

Ridiculous. She has 2 options in my opinion. She can stay home and work out, or get some noise canceling headphones.

Once upon a time in public you'd walk past the payphones and see the drama of animated calls people make. People walking by would exchange glances.

Then cell phones came out and if someone was in public talking (always too loudly) on a cell phone everyone would give them the stink eye. Airport lounges were relatively quiet, people walking down the street talking alone were thought to be a homeless mental person, and eating establishments had a constant buzz.

Then came "business travel", business calls in restaurants, and then the gloves were off. Everyone was on the phone and validating each others phone conversations in public.

So the signs went up to little avail. There was even talk about having phone conversations on airplanes....god help us.

So the genie is out of the bottle and we're here in limbo and as Jimmy Buffett sings, everybody's on the phone. And people have earphones in their ears (often unplugged) just so nobody will approach them in public.

But for some reason of human nature, hearing two people in public in a conversation doesn't bother us, but a one sided loud conversation on a phone, bugs the hell out of us.

Well put. Nothing I disagree with here.

“Find me a sign”

You have to admit, that was unnecessary.

If you pick up 120 dumbbells to bench press and don’t know how to roll them off your knees into position and instead of rolling them back up to a sit position just drop them because you’re now weak and exhausted, that’s a fail.

But we’re not at the gym and this is about rambling on a phone when you should be lifting. A quick less than a minute response is reasonable as the wife or kids might call, but a five minute dialogue, sorry but no.

Old people can be grumpy, I think it’s hilarious, besides I usually respect my elders, and get out of the way of “crazy” people.

You posted this for everyone to comment, so those are my comments.

I don't think it's that serious, and definitely not enough to post on a forum lols.

What a great thread. I learned so much, no talking at the gym. I haven’t been to a gym or a weight room in 20yrs. Who would”ve thought how noise is such a no no. It’s good to know if I ever sign up for a gym.
Agreed if your in the quiet car and talk on a phone everyone is on you..that is actually deserved.

Sorry Fat ninja, but I don't care of there is an official rule or not. Others are there to work out, not listen to you talk. It's a question of manners.

Now, I agree, that complainant seems to lack manners also. I would have other ignored you if was the first time. Or politely asked you to stop if it was your second time.

How about this. Let's say you hate country music and I love it.

And there is no rule against playing music on a box when we work out, but others refrain because of manners.

And let's say I start playing my country music while you are working out. Would that bother you?

I went to the managers office they told me to ignore the crazy. I go back down. This lady. Walks by and says what are you looking at.

She’s like 60-65 years old maybe... just wow.

If you google Planet Fitness memes...some of these come up...I didn’t make any of these up...it’s a running joke of what planet fitness is.

Ninja you crack me up !

I usually have very selective hearing with overly aggressive strangers. Defuses the temper out of them.

Hey Fat Ninja, I know the woman who yelled at you today.
She said she is going to stand guard in the parking lot of the gym and roll you the next time you come. She’s got a black belt. She said she is going to stick your cell phone up your arse!

Fat Ninja, you are funny! Look forward to meeting you at a GTG.

Funny thread.
Never been to a Gym. They stink and are full of sweaty people. Yuk.
Unfortunately I need to get some 'upper-body' going and some exercise happening in the afternoons, so I am going to go along to wife's Gym and talk with somebody about a program. Hope I never meet either of those stereotypes. Leave your phone in the car, I say.

No one can stay mad at Fat Ninja for long. They'll be spotting each other next weekend.
Missed in the entire convo...is my buddy here who heard the entire ordeal.
