Definitely don't use alcohol, it will definitely destroy the plastic components and do god knows what to other parts of the watch (coatings, finishes etc.).

On metal I use a soap and a brush gently. Leather needs to smell nice otherwise its binned. For high end watches I keep the original leather intact and use high quality aftermarket.
