Glad it’s fixed
That would have been interesting, I guess they wouldn't create much of a problem, and it would really be a cool memento to have

I think an old member said his bezel insert cost $800-1K so that is a great result.

thanks to the OP for the update and lol @ the result! as someone else said, you broke your own watch, sent the pieces to Rolex, and they made it new!

contrast this with my blancpain FF. the sapphire bezel on that broke inexplicably. under warranty i returned it to blancpain. they refused to take any responsibility and didn't even fix it. just gave it back broken (i mean, they could have called and said, we're not paying, its costs X, shall we fix it?).

way to go Rolex! could this be a new slogan?

Congrats!

Why don't you pop the bezel off just to make sure they remembered to put a new gasket in there!

That's awful. As tough a time they have selling watches you would think they would have stepped up.

OP, I am curious what you told RSC. I assume, since they asked you to pay for shipping, that they understood that you broke it. This is, IMO, the way warrantee work should be handled for luxury goods, within reason. It is what I have experienced a number of times with Apple, for instance. Sure, if you abuse the policy, they should balk. But with the margin in Rolex's goods, to perform a goodwill repair for a mistake caused by inquisitiveness, is a nice decision.

Glad to see that your Rolex is repaired and looking Great and it only cost you shipping!
here's an interesting story...
Back in the late 1990's (doesn't seem that long ago) a friend at work got his SSsubDate in the late 60's overseas, he's is a VietNam Veteran. I always admired his Rolex every time i would see him. Then one day his wrist was bare, i ask him, where is your Sub? He looked at me with sad eyes and said, he was on vacation white water rafting and the raft he was on turned over, when he came upside he was right next to some large rocks and hit his wrist on the rock a smashed his Sub. He said parts just scattered flew everywhere, he grabbed what he could and shoved in his pocket and got back on the raft. He said he was totally upset. These are his words, I'm not sure how they did repairs at Rolex then. But this is what he told me. He said he mailed his Submariner to Rolex with a letter, I remember him showing me the letter (copy). He stated how he broke it and that He bought his Sub overseas and his Sub was with him in the jungle and in his firefights, bombings, etc etc, and he has never taken it off until now (his letter had more but i only remember what I'm saying now) Please repair my Sub and bill me COD on return.
I remember businesses use to do it that way. He told me he was working overtime and saving every penny to get his Sub fixed. Months passed and one day he came by to see me, he kinda waved his arm at me and i looked and saw his Sub on his wrist! It looked Fantastic!!! He showed me a letter and it was from Rolex. They were extremely happy to read his letter and his story about his Sub. They thank him for his service! with a no charge bill. Rolex paid for everything and the shipping.
Ive told this story many many times and it still gives me chills.
I've admired Rolex since the late 70's. I also own a SSsubDate.
