Which Calibre? 324 or 2121

Both are absolutely beautiful, I can't decide which one I like more. I think I can look at both all day (which I do). Which one do you like?

I think I like better the architecture of the 2121, but that doesn't necessarily mean is better

The AP rotor is rather fabulous, just like the 5712's micro.

If they made the 324 in a 39mm case again I could probably be happy with it but as of today I would have to choose the 2121 because of the case size.

Both stunning but AP may get the nod for me...but very close call.

Who are we kidding winners all around.

Even though I own the 324 I prefer the movement on the AP. I like how the rotor has that cut away

I'll say 2121 has the nicer rotor. But prefer the cleaner finish of the 324. I don't think there is a wrong answer here though.

Both are beautiful. I have much respect for the LeCoultre-developed movement used in the AP (and by Patek and Vacheron Constantin back in the day). But I prefer the Patek movement personally.
I know the LeCoultre/AP weakness with the barrel bridge wear (must be lubricated with regular service to avoid wear).
Has any weakness been determined with the Patek movement?

For the beauty I say AP, but like Bryan just said the problem of it needing regular service is cooling me off not bad from buying a 15202, even though until 2-3 weeks ago I was really decided on getting one, haven't decided 100% yet on yes or no but

Of course both are beautiful in a different way, the 324 has a modern clean cut/finish while the 2121 is more vintage, in any case 2 great movements

I have no idea what I was talking about! LOL! Maybe I was drinking!

Although I love both movements, the 324 is accurate and very robust. I would pick the 324 and so far, so has my wallet.

I vote 324. The AP rotor looks a little more industrial. The Patek is more finely finished, imho.

I'm a complete Patek fanboy but I must admit the AP 2121 movement won this one.

The rotor on the 2121 gives it the edge as far as looks go.

i too love the 2121 for the rotor, though the patek movement is better finished. it's a close call but 2121 for me as well.

2121. Even though I just traded my AP away. The movement is wonderful.
Date function indestructible, unlike 324.

Plus 2121 very unique in crown not having 3rd position for date function and history

Maybe I'm lucky but my 15202 is ten years, old never serviced and runs like a top.

Well it has a well known weakness and in theory if you don't do regular lubricating it will result in damage or wear to the barrel bridge, but I'm a little like you, not really into servicing every 5-6 years, though coming around 8 I would probably consider servicing my watches, at least my 5712, not sure about the Rolexes though, will see

Somehow I suspect that barrel bridge wear is theoretical in the 2121. Makes sense. Does not happen in real life.
For the history alone, I would choose the 2121.

When I first posted on this one I was more drawn to the beauty of the 2121, but now I clearly prefer the 324, it's much more modern and the finition is superb as always with Patek movements, the 2121 is more vintage which is normal for a so old movement, it's beautiful also but in a different way...
