RSC estimate for Red Sub brought some relatively good news for UK owners

The service quote for my 1680 arrived today, time span is 18 - 20 weeks, I'm sure the weeks will simply fly past


A little good news is that they're absorbing the recent UK vat rises, every little helps I suppose

I've just had a call today to revise the timing on a service to my 16610LV, down from 20 weeks to 12 weeks.

Good news if they keep to that!

Just got my 5513 Milsub out of Bexley--she was there for 4 months plus!! They do a great job though!! One of only two RSC's I would ever send a vintage too--the other being San Fran! You will miss her Chris!!!!!

mines been in there for 5/6 weeks now & it's like someone took the wind out of my sails, i'd only just got her at Xmas & now she's holed up at RSC till nigh on July...

my paperwork clearly states that dial, hands & bezel are to remain but i forgot to mention the silver date wheel too, once the quote came through i assumed at just £330 for the service the date wheel would remain unswapped but i still had to call them up & confirm...

Personally, I wouldn't send any watch away for 12-20 weeks. I have a watchmaker at a former AD do my service work. The longest I've ever waited for a return is one week. I think it's ridiculous for the RSC to keep a watch for five months.

X2, but given a choice of RSC handling my vintage Red or some local watch guy who i cannot verify, i'd plum for RSC....5 months is excessive to say the least but i know it will be serviced by qualified technicians with only original parts used & once finished it will be accompanied by a Rolex warranty on official paper, worth the wait when given the alternative.

here in the UK i've yet to be given a confident nod towards anyone other than RSC.

According to my AD, the new UK service centre near Maidstone has (or had in January) over 6000 watches awaiting service!

I sent my 1665 to Bexley (through an AD) at the beginning of 2009 - took about 14 weeks to come back. Well worth the wait.
I asked them to replace the bezel insert at the same time - little did I know that the fat font insert was the way to go, irrespective of the fade. I ended up with a non-tritium pearl too - Dammit!
The hands were replaced, however these appear to be tritium and are ever so slightly more white than the dial plots.
Dial does have SWISS T<25 at the bottom, so don't think it's a service replacement.
Did an excellent job, chamfers intact too.

I called servicing this afternoon at Kings Hill - and the nice lady told me - that its now 20 weeks for servicing depending on the calibre in your watch....... thats 20 weeks outside time PLUS - this timeline starts when you approve the estimate..... of which they have a 4 week backlogg in estimates also !!

So in real terms - if I sent a watch to them today (depending on the calibre) then a realistic timeline is 24 weeks from them recieving it - to you getting it back.........
