Should I Be Wearing My Daytona

Good evening yall,

Just wanted to start a discussion and get your thoughts on whether you think I should be wearing my Daytona 116503. I generally wear it to work every day and when I go out to the bars and such.

I used to keep up with Rolex's a lot more when I first got the watch and just recently wanted to get back into them and buy more/start a collection. Little did I know how hard it has become to get your hands on some of these watches now a days from an AD.

Should I be treating my Daytona a little better as if the value of it is a little higher in these times? Or just keep wearing it as if its a basic everyday watch? I really enjoy wearing but also want it to keep its value or even let it appreciate greatly. What would yall do if you had this watch?

No……. Don’t wear it! Watches are meant to be tucked away and never see the light!

The Paul Newman watch is beat to hell and sold for $17 million so I wouldn't worry about it.

I understand your desire to take care of a precious possession, but only you can decide what that watch means to you.

If you want to view it as an investment then tuck it in a safe and forget it until you are ready to sell.

If you would get joy and pleasure out of wearing and enjoying the watch then do that.

I personally would suggest wearing it in good health and then pass it on to a loved one. That has far more value than any capital appreciation that watch will bring.

Wear your watch and enjoy.

My dad wore his DJ everyday for 45 years.
Still ticking and it outlasted him.

When it outlasts me, it will go to my son, then goes to his kid and so on.
His watch gave me the drive to work hard and succeed.
Will not sell my dad’s watch, no matter what price.

That daytona looks a bit... strange to me. What reference is it? It doesn't look like an 1166503.

precisely. He claims it's an 116503, but the watch he showed is actually a bad version of a 16523 I believe.

Nah that’s the right reference. Beautiful watch, enjoy. Love marks can get polished out at service time. Yes, that bezel is more delicate but everything can be replaced.

These kinds of questions make me sad for the person posting them. It's your watch, do what the hell you like with it and what makes you happy. You don't need random people on the internet to tell you what to about things like this.

The watch - whether real or not I cant attest to what others have said: is pretty beaten up at this point you can’t do anything more to take the value down. If you plan to sell it at some point then send it for a service and polish before you do so and it will be worth more.

Have to agree Rolex watches should be bought to wear and enjoy, its not all about ££$$€€, they are just watches to tell the time on the wrist but posters watch looks like a 16503.

It's either a Zenith or a bad fake. Definitely not a 116 series as the dials lined up at 9 and 3 o'clock.

It’s a zenith, it’s a real watch……he added a one to the reference number…..not that hard to tell and people who are calling it fake just don’t don’t know much about these watches lol

Not a 503. Look at the bezel numbers.
