You do not have to have paperwork just make certain it's a real Rolex. When you send it in to be serviced at RSC you will get paperwork then...
Btw...welcome to the Forum!!!

A preowned rolex is typically easier to sell if it has papers.

Nice to have but not worth spending extra to have it unless it's still under warranty.

If you are buying a modern day Rolex, you might as well hold out for one with the complete package. There are so many for sale, why take the chance of buying a stolen Rolex.

Papers are good to have for resale, but apart from that all they do is really sit in the box.

Sometimes in buying a watch you can't always get the papers.

I'd personally take a much better example of a watch without papers than a poor example of a model with papers.

At the end of the day you wear and enjoy the watch itself, the papers are nice, that isn't the purpose of the acquisition for me.

Well for me the papers/or card warranty are only important for the warranty period when bought new. After that when expired they are just a bit of paper or card. And when you have a watch serviced by Rolex you will get service papers with a full current two year warranty. The most important bit is a genuine watch and not a out of date warranty paper. In my many years of dealing with Rolex I have see many fake papers that would fool many so called experts.A bit of paper or a box don't always prove its a genuine watch, now with vintage watches the papers are more important. But for any modern day Rolex, myself would never pay a premium higher price for a watch
with a out of date bit of paper and a packaging box.
