A lucky escape...
Chose to keep my 15710 on when going through the metal detectors at the airport.
It set the alarm off (sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t?!) During the ‘pat down’ which followed, the security gentleman hit the face full on with his metal detection wand. I grimaced. Luckily escaped with no damage Phew ! Sent using Tapatalk

Hate when someone else tries to ding my watch, esp mischievous little girls who get endless fun out of torturing their WIS uncles who were dumb enough to let on they cared...

I take off my watch and put it through the other machine which my luggage go through, together with my mobile phone and keys. Then again, have not travelled with my AP yet.

That’s a close call! That’s why I always carry some small pouches to put my watches when going thru airport security.

Wonder if you can tell them in advance, like "i'm happy to take this off in your presence to pat me down, but please do be careful not to bang it into the watch."
Not sure if that will actually do anything, but who knows... |

glad there was no damage, but what would you have done if there was damage?
its just a watch, we run the risk of damage by putting it on our wrists every day lol |

Honestly nothing - C’est la vie. I highly doubt they would take any liability, just something to chalk up to bad fortune. I did consider asking him to watch out, but the Britishness in me makes it almost impossible to make a fuss in public, especially before noon. Sent using Tapatalk

I would feel stupid thinking about risking getting a scratch while in a normal public area. Once the honeymoon is over from a new purchase one gets tired of being super careful all the time. Scratches will happen, I chose to wear my watches as much as possible, I rather use my watches a lot and accept a few scratches than leaving my watches at home.

The security gentleman hit the face full on with his metal detection wand.
That's what would have happened to the Security Gentleman if he had of damaged mine!

Couldn’t agree more ! Just nice to keep the process as slow as possible without being too cautious. Sent using Tapatalk

Thanks for sharing - I’m expecting an AP soon and travel very frequently so it’s a timely heads up.
Glad your beloved made it unscathed! |
