5905p is thicker and 2 mm bigger case (42mm vs 40) I like that better. I appreciate that they remove that crazy counter of the 5960p , that even though it wasn’t that hard to read it made the watch look cluttered. I love the power reserve on 5960p and wish they would of left that on the 5905p.

That’s my take

Less is more! I wish I had less watches. I did 2 for 1 and 3 for 1 trades for better watches. Still think of future trades.

Well.... I’ve been having a clear out.

In recent times (and since getting my first Patek) my WG GMT, DJ41, Explorer II and Tudor GMT have all found new homes. My TT Sub is going to my nephew.

This will leave me with my modified GMTc LN, Explorer, blue 5711 and the incoming that I’m about to receive.

Back to 4.....and happy!

Conversion from hoarding all brands to Patek

Don’t know how but I didn’t see this post, anyhow I would answer like this :

5960 more sporty

5960 has power reserve indicator

5960 it’s cheaper but also has worst price retention

5905 better price retention but more expensive to buy

5905 has more presence, it’s a platinum beast

5905 is cleaner , the chrono counter is preferable in my eyes

5905 like the pushers better

I like the fact that 5905 is still in production so you don’t have to buy an old watch like with the 5960

I like things of the 5960 and others of the 5905. But if forced to choose 5905p black dial is the winner for me

Jorge,

How do you compare the comfort between your BLRO and your 116500?
I hear the jubilee is quite a bit more comfortable than the oyster, but the lighter weight of the daytona along with its perfect lugs make for such a comfortable watch on the wrist, and might offset the jubilee, so I'm curious.

To be honest that is something that’s never been significant enough to make it a comparison. But I’ll tell you that even though comfort wise is not significant for me , the feeling or sensation on the wrist of the watches is different and yes that’s is mainly because the bracelet. The jubilee bracelet is lighter and kind of encapsulates the wrist like glove , the ouster doesn’t adhere in the same way.

But I do have a friend that sold his Pepsi because he didn’t like the maxicase and prefers the Daytona’s case. He always says that he loves the fact that Rolex left alone the Daytona’s case when they upsized to maxicase the other sport watches models.
You see I guess there is people that is a big deal that kind of thing and I respect that but really for me is a nonissue.

Hope it helps

Definitely helps thanks.
I’m probably with your friend on this issue .....
For example, I love my hulk but the case and lugs on it don’t come close to the comfort of the case and lugs of the Daytona, given that I have a smaller sub 7” wrist.

What I had heard about the Pepsi was that the lugs were slightly more curved than the sub, and when combined with the jubilee, made for a great fitting watch, even on smaller wrists.

Love your VC Overseas Chrono, the think Fredrick Piquet movement is one of the best in the business

I been avoiding updating the thread because the outcome negates the title of the thread. Not the hoarding part but the brand

Maybe get it moved to the Rolex section and change the title to Rolex instead of Patek. I’m sure the crowd over there would absolutely love this thread seeing you back at Rolex

Great philosophy. And great focused collection. Congrats.

While i agree with philosophy, i have yet to find the intestinal fortitude to apply it in my life.

The solution i found due to my cowardice:

1. Stop buying/accumulating when i turn 50. My projected last purchase will be a YG DD40. It would be my first, only and last full YG piece.

2. When i turn 60 or 65 (have yet to decide), i will bequeath my entire collection to my two sons except the YG DD40. I will effectively be a one watch guy then and have a super focused collection of 1. Till i die.

Very interesting. I have also thought about the same thing. I will give my collection to my two sons and keep the DD40 platinum as my only watch.

As we get old and frail the plat may become a burden to wear

Ty sir. And this early am exposing my sons to their future hoard.

My best case: they agree to share and co-own everything.

But up to them what they do with them.
