A really under appreciated brand in my view - I have owned several over the years. Their list of manufacture accomplishments is probably second only to JLC over the long term.
Sadly an utter resale horror - buy well!! Retail prices seem to imply they have the same brand cachet as PP, which sadly they don't. |

being disaffected by the current difficulties buying watches from AP and Rolex, and excited by a skeletonised GP Laureato I had seen (i temporarily perceived it as a poor man's Bubba Watson), i decided to visit the AD here in Sydney (Shum Watches).
In person i thought the tapisserie dials and chrono's in steel looked ok. for 20k aud i didn't think that was crazy (but neither was i going to buy one). not as nice as my 15400 but pretty much same price. not a nice comparison given that the RO is a design icon (which as much as i like the laureato it certainly is not). ceramic laureato is like 40k though and skeletonised and ceramic (including bracelet) got you to something like 55k. i sort of wanted to do it right. go to an AD, buy a watch i had tried on and that "sung" to me etc. forget about all of the other stuff (re-sale etc etc). but i'm not rich and paying AP money for GP is probably not in the tea leaves, enthusiast or no. |

I had a GP 1945 chrono. Liked the design but comparatively poor finishing and the small round movement that did not fit the case (even though it was a solid case back) bothered me too much.

Beautiful watch, simple and elegant. I’d like to try on the SS Laureato, hard to find an AD near me. It’s a good looking sports watch

The blue face Laureto chrono with matching blue croc strap is my favorite GP piece. Unbelievable.

I helped a friend of mine buy a Ti Seahawk over 5 years ago. He still wears it everyday and still loves it.

GP is a fantastic brand and so under appreciated. I bought a watch I had to have from Bottega Veneta in partnership with GP and paid way too much for it but I couldn't find anything else like it. Only 300 of them made, although sales were sluggish. I liked it so much that I purchased an extra deployment clasp and 2 new / spare crocodile bands.
A lot of their designs appeal to me, but they also appear to be all over the map at times. Some day I may add a Laureato to the collection. It sings to me more than AP and Patek at a more reasonable second-hand price point. Last edited by rolexmavin; 6 July 2019 at 05:12 AM.. Reason: Details. |

GP is a very fine maker. I believe most GP's are inhouse manufacture movements and the Laureato fit an finish is on-par with the VCO and APRO.

The 1966 is beautiful. I have the new Laureato in 42mm and find it amazing, the finishing is excellent. GP is a full in-house manufacturer from the movement to clasp.

Since two years i own a Vintage 1945, steel with big date and moonphase. Love it! GP is a fantastic brand with a lot history and they make everything "in house".

Thought I'd jump start this thread, I have my eye on a couple of GP's and hoping some owners and those with experience will chime in. The new Laureato looks great, the elegant simplicity of the 1966 is just beautiful. Keys for me are reliability, durability and service.

This was my first “dress watch” other than a 36mm day date that was my daily at the time. Though my collection had grown a lot, and Langes are my go to dress watches, I still think this one is a beauty.

Have a 44mm Free Bridge coming in as soon as the longer strap arrives. Been looking at them for some time. I'll keep it for a while for sure. My daily is a Deep Sea so I thought I'd change it up a bit. Should be here in 3 weeks or so.

couldn't say why though, but people become attracted to certain brands for various reasons right ? |
