Trade SubC Date for SD43?
I’m very torn. I love my sub c date and wear it daily. It’s pretty much the perfect watch to me. With that said, the SD43 is more or less the bigger and badder version of that. I’ve never seen one in person and probably won’t sincd AD’s have zero SS inventory.
I’m a pretty big guy, 6’0 240lbs+ and a bit muscular. I feel the Sub wears fine and looks very good. I can’t help thinking the SD43 would just look better. I do like the little splash of red too and the extra reserve in case I want to take another watch out for the weekend. For those who have made the switch (or done the opposite), what are your opinions? Again I would be doing this online and not in person so I wouldn’t be seeing it in person. But before I got into nicer luxury watches I wore a Michael khors big 40something which looked totally normal to me. Also I need to figure out how to do a swap since I never swapped watches before. Thanks and happy mother’s day to the ladies. |

I didn’t make the switch from subC to sd43, since I personally never liked (and owned) the subC. Lol
However, I did buy the sd43 without seeing it in person. I went to go try the ym2 and exp2 at the AD to get the idea of size on my wrist. Then pulled the trigger. I am glad I did. https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=574914 If u r a big guy with a big wrist (mine is only 7.25 round, not flat) i don’t think u even have to try it on. Lol. The sd43 will look great on u. I deal mostly with DavidSW... so I can recommend u trade ur subc with him when he has the Sd43 u want in stock. He gives fair prices for trade-ins imo. Wait for the one u want since the prices will vary ($100-500) depending on how much he paid for it. Then make an offer. And let him know u have a trade in. Be sure to post pics once u get it

For your height and weight I think the SD would be perfect. What's your wrist size?
Can you post a wrist shot with your Sub? I think that would help a lot. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S10 using Tapatalk |

This is exactly what I did, traded my subc in for my SD43 and I am so happy that I did. My wrist is 7.25 for comparison and fairly flat, it sounds like based on your description you’d have no problems sporting the sea dweller. The one thing I’ll add is that even thought the SD43 is a larger watch, the wider bracelet balances it out...my sea dweller is just as comfortable if not more so than the subc was. To me the Sub was a bit too boring, the sea dweller is everything I could have hoped for. I’d make the same decision and trade in a heartbeat again if I was presented with the choice. Good luck

I own and love my SubC, but I’d do it in a heartbeat if I had the wrists for the SD43. Congrats in advance.

To me one is a daily the other is not, though it is a far “superior” watch. Agree the touch of red, matte dial makes it a knock out. Just insanely big IMO. I would sigh having to wear that beast daily. Though that is my opinion and others would certainly disagree.
I’d go check out a deep sea, sd43 or even the sd50 at a grey dealer if you have one local before you make the switch. With no personal considerations, It is a great trade. Taking into account personal preferences, I’d pass. |

I have both (SD43 and SubC), my wrist is small (6.75) and I LOVE THE SD43!!!!!!! Is my grail, an anniversary model with a touch of vintage, all the modern features, a unique case of 43mm (the only one in the Rolex lineup), a touch of red, a matte/glossy dial, better proportions, new movement 3235, you will be absolutly happy.

I own both and love them each for different reasons.
IMO, the SD43 is a great watch to wear in rotation and the Submariner is a great every day watch. The answer as with most of these questions is to save and add IMO |

I currently own the SD43 and have owned the sub c in the past. I think the SD43 is perfect size. I’m 6’0” and 200 lbs and have a 7.6 inch wrist. The SD43 is perfectly portioned for me and my wrist. Any of the trusted sellers on here will be able to do the trade. Expect to add some cash on your end.

If your wrist is larger than 7", which by your description, it probably is, you'll love the SD43. Here's mine on my 7.5 wrist. I used to own the 114060, but I like the look and feel of this SD so much more.

I have the DSSD ,SD43,Sub C .Perhaps the SD43 is the best overall compromise between looks/size/wrist presence.Thats if you have to choose one.
I would say keep the Sub C.Make it a longer term project..get the DSSD or SD43,whatever comes first.Make it a threesome at the end . Dont sell the Sub C now eve in this idiotic high market ,10 to 15 years from now it will be worth much more. |

Hon SD43. Really great watch and has that extra something above the sub.
It particularly works if you have a few other watches so it is in a rotation. |

I have the Sub C and love it. I think the SD is cool and I am not a massive guy 6’1 210 but have worn bigger watches before I.e. PO XL without issue so I know the SD would look good but I cannot justify couple grand more for a one line of red and then some extra second marks on the bezel. Even though you are a bigger guy Sub still fits well as it wears bigger.
Btw wish my Sub C had that little red in it. |

I have a 7 inch flat wrist and the SD43 fits perfect. I also have a sub (114060) and would take the SD43 everyday of the week.

I’d do it. Actually I’d get a deepsea if I were you. But if not I’d do the SD43.

Just measured my wrist and I’m at 8”.
I’ll post some wrist pics tomorrow but you guys are kind of confirming what I thought... Btw gave my wife a TT DJ31 for Mother’s Day and it was a great success. She loves it more than I thought she would. |

Here it is on my wrist. What do you guys think?
I’m currently checking for SD43s in stock. Looks like they have a pretty decent markup on them for preowned models. Davidsw doesn’t have any in stock but sending him an email to see what he thinks. Bobs has 2 for over 13k and not sure how much they’d give me for my sub c date. But I do think I want to do the swap. If I can make it make financial sense then I will do it. I don’t need to do this...but I do want to do it. |

Yeah the sub looks too small on u. Lol.
It makes the squarish supercase even more pronounced on ur big wrist. The sd43 will fit very nicely

With a wrist like that you can easily get away with the SD43! I own a SD4K and tried the SD43 and a DSSD at the same time. The 43 looked less than 3mm bigger, it felt like max 1mm or max 2mm bigger, and your Sub wears bigger than my SD.
The DSSD, now that's a different story. It was really a lot bigger and high compared to my 40mm watch and was definetly too big for my wrist.

I like the deep sea but I actually like the look of the cyclops and red lettering. Overall I just love the sub look but a supersizes version. The deep sea has the ringlock and no cyclops which is why I won’t be looking at that. If I could afford an additional fun watch I would get that though.
Thanks for all the help my forum friends. Now on to find out a way to swap watches online! |
