Adds variety to Rolex line up, would require few tweaks for me to fully love it.

For a $800 more I'd prefer to get the DJ Oyster Steel, newer movement plus has a date feature and has more options for dials too.

I have tried this watch on, and I feel that it does look better on the wrist than in photographs. The dial is a bit too busy though, and I can’t get past the WG 3, 6, 9. I would consider adding to a collection, and feel that the watch is competitively priced.

Question is; in the short to medium term, will the Airking be updated with a tweaked dial, or discontinued altogether? Either way, I think this watch may become more sought after as time goes by.

It's just not for me. I would buy an Exp 1 vs the AK

The Air-King was a beautiful 34mm watch, which is now the 114200 OP. The modern Air-King's dial is a complete design failure IMO.

It doesn't strike me as timeless, as NO Sub says above, too busy.

I'm getting one at the end of year to complement my GMT Master II. It's a great looking watch.

The poll is a missing a "I love the Air-King and want to add it to my collection."
option. If that was there, I'd check it :)

Sort of. The explorer markers with AK lettering, colors and case would be awesome IMO.

I kind of liked the old ones, very classic looking.

For some reason they went overboard with the new model. I think it will soon die. I even like the Milgauss better

I couldn’t agree more. I like many of the vintage ones. Current reference not so much.

I really like it and don't get the bad publicity around them.

I actually bought one today! You either love it or you hate it. I love the fact it’s the black sheep of the Rolex family. Perfect for a daily

Exactly the same as with the YMII thread going around, under-rated is not the same as unpopular. The AK is unpopular compared to virtually every other SS Rolex, including the ones with the same or similar case (e.g. EXP and OP). The reason is the dial.

Now there is nothing wrong with it being less popular. In fact, it's a positive thing if you're an owner. Plus it means if you want one, you can get one.

It's not a watch that appeals to me on any level. If it was discontinued it wouldn't make any difference to me. The world would be very dull if we all liked the same things. And the Air King would be a lot harder to get.

Anyone who doesn't want one is an enabler for anyone who does. I've walked past Air Kings at the AD several times in the last year. Hopefully, they went to owners who fully love and appreciate them, as opposed to people who somehow felt obliged because of the SS "shortage".

I think it’s a great watch. I love the concept. It’s just a little too confusing for me to wear. But otherwise I think it’s pretty cool.

I like the Exp1. I like "B-dial" pilot watches. When you put them both together, it's way too busy. To me, it seems like a half-hearted effort to add a new model to the OP line up. I liked the old, 34mm AKs because they were unabashedly simple.

Is ok to repost this poll after John Mayer buys an Air King and effectively promotes it on someone’s watch site through an interview?

It is a wonderful piece. I loved mine for a daily for a year then traded it for a new Polar.
